One more win would mean all the teams at 21st 22nd and 23rd would have to win 5 matches each out of 9 to have more points than us (our goal diff is worth a point)

So not safe until one more win is added.

Safe.

But it's a bloody good job we got those early season points on the board when we did.

Some interesting games to come down at the bottom....

York v Hartlepool
York v Cheltenham
Carlisle v Hartlepool

I think Oxford or Cambridge could be dragged into the equation

We need to keep looking over our shoulder, teams below are picking up points

We can't afford to feel or assume we have reached safety

I am sure we have done enough over the season to stay up, BUT Macclesfield probably thought that on New Years Eve 3 years ago.

They were in 14th place with 30 points and a +1 G/D

They ended up bottom, 9 points adrift having only got 7 points and no wins from their last 23 games ending up with -25 GD
We have amassed 15 points in our 14 games since New Year, so on that basis we need one more win.

I would prefer at least a win and a draw, before Burton, Wycombe and Southend, which is what we have achieved in the last 5 games :o

Considering we have 5 away games left we will be safe.
At the end of the day, as we all know, we are always one of favourites to go down every season. Poor little Lancashire town with crap attendances and a budget smaller than 99% of the other teams in league 2.
To be realistic It's a miracle we have stayed up.
Give jimbo and kenny credit. The players they have, at their disposal, are as HONEST and give all for the club.
Think of this. Next week you have a windfall of £100,000. You want the best quality car you can afford. Brand new jaguar for example. You go out and buy it. Drives great, doesn't break down, no repair bills etc etc RUNS LIKE A DREAM, PERFECT.
Suddenly you have to replace it with a 15 year old vauxhall Astra, by the way normally I have vauxhall cars.
It starts. Every now and again it stalls, breaks down and gets tired. Basically it is what it is. But it gets you from A to B.
MFC are the same. Bigger budget, more bums and feet in the crowd equals greater results week in week out. League 1 is where we would be.
Like the ASTRA small squad knackered legs running with injuries etc results in LUCKILY SO FAR, league 2 safety.
If you want to complain at results compare these 2 cars.
Hopefully you'll realise that our ups and downs and poor results are what we are and were we are.
£900 for a season ticket at premier league. No thanks
Up the football league we go

Like I said earlier. We're safe.

And we have Jim and Ken to thank for giving us a NINTH season in the Football League next season.

On our budget, which results from our pitiful attendances, it's fantastic and we have them both to thank.

Id say we are pretty safe but another 9 points from remaining games would certainly help us.

I think this is the worst we've been in league 2 but to counter that league 2 is getting worse each season also so we should just have enough this season. As for next...

Every year we are in the league we hope and pray that we can have a decent cup run culminating in Manchester United at Old Trafford or Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

I have a nagging suspicion though that if we did have such a windfall any proceeds would be used to reduce Directors Loans.

4 points for safety. We'll stutter over the line okay. Don't think we'll manage the play-offs though.

It's a shame really. I had £10 at 10-1 to be in top 7 at the start of season. Been hoping, praying and willing the lads on. Probably won't happen but win every game left............ Then who knows ???
