Phew just re-read the old thread and successfully covered my arse.

I think against Northampton he should never have played as the lone central striker. He can't play along the line because of a lack of pace. However the formation with Miller or Mullin central and Barky and Devitt doing a lot of running helps his game by freeing him up to do what he does best and get in great positions, annoy defenders and keepers, and niggle away to create opportunities others wouldn't.

Kev has been immense in the last few games.

How well did he do to score that header against Crawley without fouling the keeper.

He has really done his fair share of tracking back and defending as well as heading corners out of our box to safety.

As I said in the other post, he worked really well with McGowan, especially when he tracked back to defensive positions. I think another aspect is that, unlike last season, he wasn't constantly swapping sides as he pretty much kept himself to the left edge most of the game. In fact, the whole squad were disciplined and stayed in their formation.

I've often bemoaned Jim's almost constant changing formations and positions last season and earlier this season. Kev and Paz seemed to be two key players who really started to under-perform. Paz had four different position in a single game. Kev has been played as a lone striker, part of a pair of strikers, a left winger, a right winger, a central midfielder. It's bound to disturb all the players, not just Kev/Paz themselves and breaks up the natural, successful pairings. I don't deny I've been critical of Kev, but others can't deny that he's had some pretty bad games.

It's really good to start seeing players being allowed to keep a position and to form close bonds with those around them. Yes, I know Jim has to have utility players because of the small squad, but surely when he can (like now due to few injuries/suspensions), he should stop faffing around and allow the lads to have a bit of continuity.

I was kevs biggest critic the other week but since the bury game he's been superb and long may it continue. Agree that him n Mcgowan link up very well and hopefully they'll play together for a while as Aaron will need someone with experience playing in front of him an helping him out ! Keep up the good work Kev !

Tuesday was my first match for over a month. We missed the previous two home games for family reasons. Kev well deserved to be on the pitch, but I still wish he'd stop raising his arms when jumping to block a ball.

Kev's anticipation of mistakes has allowed him to score many goals like the header and pokes in. Not many other players have that anticipation of chasing the ball down on the chance the opposition will make a mistake and being able to react quickly. He just seem to know the keeper would fumble it under pressure.
