Peter Murphy

Peter Murphy

If anything good came out of last nights performance then it was the second half appearance of Peter Murphy who in 45 minutes showed more leadership on the field than any other individual in any game this season.

His goal was most welcome but it was his reaction after his goal that impressed me. He was shouting to his team mates to lift their individual performances and to some extent they did by keeping the scoreline to 2-4.

Unfortunately our lack of height in midfield once again lead to loosing out on the vast majority of headers ( a fault that has been apparent all too often this season )but this was as much to once again relying on balls in the air when it was crying out for the ball to be played on the ground. However it appeared to me that once again this is by instruction from Ken on the bench who was demanding that the ball was sent long from the back.

It's significant that the central partnership was once again partly responsible for another  4 goal home deficit. Time for Doyle to be given an extended run....and the less said about Wilson the better.
