Hey it could have been worse. You could have been at a Christmas party at a York City fan's house where he insisted on listening to our commentary. I told him as I walked through the door that this was his real Christmas present, e.g. a first win in 10. However he refused to believe me saying this was the worst York City defence he'd ever seen and if Morecambe lost they were relegation material. Of course his real present was a book - Non-League Football Tables 1882-2005 to show him where he'd be next season. How wrong was I.

We're in serious trouble.

1st time I've ever watched it "live"

Was at the game along with 147 others

1st half was very poor from both sides, hoof ball, woeful passing and lack of quality.

Wildig had a great chance one on one 1st half but had it cleared off the line, would a more confident player have scored this?

Their first goal was typical of our set piece defending, big centre back easily outmuscled Edwards and scored an easy header.

The second goal was preventable, we gave him far too much time for him to pick his spot.

Jamie's goal, a very well taken strike, proved to be a false dawn. We only looked to go direct in the last 10 minutes when the team needed to change and go more physical much sooner.

York played to their strengths:
wide players willing to run to the byline and cross to a big target man (Oliver) who was a handful all game.

Ratings:

Barry 7- some good saves and calm under pressure
Aaron 5- poor, inexperience showed today, lucky not to be subbed
Beeley 6- average, didn't do much wrong but doesn't add the same width of attacking threat he used to
Edwards 5- beaten for the first goal
Dugdale 6- didn't do much wrong but poor distribution
Kenyon 5- not sure what he does
Murphy 6- disappointing today, passing was poor
Molly 5-set up goal, didn't add anything out wide but I'm not sure he knows his role
Wildig 5- couple of good chances, should have done better win at least one of them
Devitt 6- good goal but doesn't seem to run with the ball and go for it like he used to
Miller 5- sorry, did nothing all game

Subs
Mullin 6- had a go but played out wide
Ellison 5- skied his only effort clearing the stand, not given long enough
Forester 5- not on long enough

We're in trouble with this lack of form.
Think Jim needs to give serious thought to going back to 442 and being more physical.

OK, for those who were (un)lucky enough to attend, name and shame!

Hiding is NOT acceptable, the very least fans expect is that players give their all for the shirt.
How many and who are just picking up their wages? Without being there I would guess Ellison wasn't one of those hiding. Was it too cold/wet/windy for Devitt?

Devitt was the only player who actually got the ball down and tried to play football but the players around him weren't on his wavelength.

No way I can sugar coat it.
We were Sh1t. We need to change the way we play. We need to put pressure on players with the ball, not just drop off and let them come at us. Is this the same team who played Walsall and Carlisle? I hope I don't find something good to do on 9/1/16 as I might just start doing it regularly. And another thing, was it a £1.99 lightweight ball used today? As the amount of crosses and corners that went flying way to far was laughable.

Your right about Miller but that's a reflection of the team as a whole who's confidence has completely drained im afraid .

I played at amatuer level and whilst accepting there is a huge gulf between that and this,some things are the same.If we went on a bad run we would play 4/5/1 (5 midfield not this wingback stuff) and control the middle of the park, hence controlling the game as most teams played 4/4/2 so we had an extra man.Grind out a couple of results to stop the rot then as confidence grew the gaffer would switch it again.
HOWEVER the grafters played and it became understood that no graft = not playing.
Look at Leicester and what collective graft with a sprinkling of skill is achieving, If it were down to me I would have them all in training, and training hard every day until results improve.Look at Barcelona who whilst having some of the best players on the planet outwork most of their opposition. As someone (whose name escapes me) has as a footer to their posts, "hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work", VERY apt and very true. (edit to add; it's Christies Child)

Also perhaps Jim is too close to the squad as a manager to show the iron fist that on occasion is needed.
