She was from Bury but in the late 70s she lived for a time on Oxford Street, Morecambe and was quoted as saying some of her wry and amusing observations on Northern life were directly taken from what she had heard in local cafes in the town.
I feel a great loss because Victoria Wood was one of us from the North, who could make us laugh at ourselves and point out the wonderful quirky ways of us Northerners.
Very sadly missed.
