How can we help?

How can we help?

Postby fulwoodshrimp » Fri Dec 23, 2016 6:52 pm

It's becoming common knowledge that Diego has not paid for the owner's shares after an initial deposit. It's a time when we all have to come together to save our club. No doubt the board will be seeking legal action against Diego Lemos and no doubt the Football League will be scrutinising the deal to see if Diego really is a "fit and proper person". However, these legal matters drag on. What can we do to help our club in this emergency situation. Is there any mileage in another public meeting in the new year organised by the Supporters Club (if the Supporters Trust isn't yet established) to see what we can do? Our club is worth fighting for. League status was hard to achieve, lets not throw it all away if we can help it.

Having spoken to one director today there is one almighty battle taking place for control of the club. The directors have united to fight to get Diego out but as you say it will be a lengthy battle. There has been two board level casualties already. The main thing we must all back is every effort to get rid of Diego Lemos. This will first be via the EFl to prove he is not a fit and proper person to be a director of the football club and then it will be through the courts. This could take months.

While the board needs our verbal and match day support, the complex structure of the club - Morecambe FC and PMG Leisure owning different parts of the club and some surrounding land owned by former directors - makes any additional support complicated.

In my view, we need to get the Supporters Trust legally constituted as fast as possible. It can support the main group of directors in their battle with Diego Lemos by putting the fan's case.

Secondly we can start reaching out and building a membership of old and new supporters. While it won't be a vast income it will give the Supporters Trust the network to do more and be ready when the time comes, if needed, to fight for the future of the club. At this moment in time the Directors need the fans more than at any time in the history of our club. We should use that position to our advantage to help determine the future of the club.

For those who say that a Supporters Trust can't raise money or is too small, I say just two Morecambe fans have put at least £750,000 into the club in the last two years knowing there is a possibility that they may lose it all. How much could a properly constituted body raise?

Diego Out... but let's make sure what follows is the right solution.

Diego owns the shares so he's the main problem. Other people are involved behind him, including a shit hot lawyer apparently, so that's where I leave it, except to say you wouldn't want them involved in the club formally or by proxy.

What I don't get is if he doesn't have enough money to keep us going why would he bothered you would think they want a get out clause now they see how bad things are. Unless they had plans for the land

Agree about the supporters trust noone is going to give the club money as it's a black hole and u don't know where it's going but people would support a supporters group. I think the supporters trust would have mors luck with local businesses than the club would.

Maybe it's the minor shareholders like myself who could contribute to what could loosely be described as a fighting fund that could be used to contribute to whatever legal fees are involved to mount any legal campaign that the club find itself having to undertake.

I'm not sure of the exact number of individual shareholders there are but maybe each could contribute say £50 then at least it would be a symbol of unity against Diego and Co.

The club won't be fighting the legal battle PMG will be in order to regain control of his shares.

I feel as well as legal action by PMG the Football League has a role to play. If the league decide Diego is not a "fit and proper person" when they have investigated further then he is snookered. I do think we supporters have a role to play in raising some funds while the tussle goes on, perhaps specifically for use solely by the manager for a player or two. Count me in.
