Supporters' Trust Bar

Supporters' Trust Bar

Postby Wild Bill » Sat Dec 24, 2016 2:15 pm

Been quite a bit of talk about what the proposed Supporters' Trust can do during what is inevitably going to be a difficult couple of years for the Club. Lets firstly assume that PMG eventually wins his legal battle with Diego and we are back to square one (skint, up for sale and at best only limited amounts into the playing staff just to keep us in L2).

Given the massive PR disaster the whole sale has been, surely the Supporters' Trust would be in a strong position to negotiate a deal to get a proper fans bar at the back of the Omega, which I am sure between us we could even fund its build solely by ourselves. This could be ran independently to the Club, and managed by fan with a view to a proper entertainment experience to get fans in the stadium early on match days, having a good drink and really enjoying themselves regardless of what's going on in the boardroom or on the pitch. Any profits the bar then makes could go directly to getting a new player, hanging on to a good one, or youth development.

This is just a rough idea and could easily be done with the Globe Bar too instead if this was allowed. If this though is the case it would still need to be ran independently as above and some investment and regardless we will need at least a bus shelter roof over the back of the Omega for a dry half time beer.

Initial thoughts? (Particularly from those currently involved in the ST)

If you've been to Plymouth, They have a fans marque run by there trust, I would love us to be able to get something like that, but small steps are needed at 1st. We can hopefully grow bigger and better with time.

Agree the Plymouth thing before games is a good model to aim at. Do think the board (what there is of it) are more open to change now. Is it six years too late? Mistakes have been made and many of us have been repeating over and over what needs doing. But if this crisis has managed to do one thing that is bring people back together. The Fans Trust is the next step. Get that up and running and get a good dialogue going. Do think that some of the powers that be at the club have finally realised that you can't have a club without fans participating in it. Lets pray to the footie gods that it's not too late. (Which I don't think it is.)

I think you all need to have a much more short-term focus.

As of next week any negotiating will have to be done via the reinstated Mark Dixon.
