An Idea

So people complain about the prices (as you can see on the facebook page) maybe the club need to try and look at how they can improve the match day experience so that people feel they are getting a bit extra value for their £17/£20.

Something like you a hire a bouncy castle (even buy one in the long term) put it at the front of the ground for the kids a little table selling pop, crisps, sweets, coffees for the adults.

Have a "Welcome team" out there with Christie the Cat (yes I am on about that cat again) welcoming people down Christie way showing them where to go (to show how friendly we are, remember we used to be the friendliest club every season) handing out flyers with upcoming fixtures, offers on ticket prices, club shop, beer promotions, soccer schools.

Maybe you could do other things like invite a local bands to come and play outside the ground to get the atmosphere, like trumpet Pete and his west end music people. We used to have the odd band down at Christie Park. Just try and get a good vibe around the place in the build up.

I am sure if we put our heads together there are other things we could do that wouldn't cost a lot to put on but make it look to people we are making an effort and you can have a good afternoon what ever the result.
Remember don't let the football spoil your day!

I doubt the club would sort out anything like this so maybe it's things like these that the supporters trust will need to look at organising. Although I really think it should fall at the feet of the commercial dept to work with the supporters trust.

Like the welcome team ideally it would be volunteers but if the club can't find anyone they should get members of the commercial dept/hospitality staff out there doing it.

If I was the commercial director and my business was on it's backside I would quite happily stand outside in the rain talking to people, promoting events, knocking on doors. Why talk to the same 10 people in a sponsors box who always sponsor the club every year anyway when you could be outside talking to hundreds of people.

Some good ideas P/T Indie. As a club we need to do more but there doesn't seem to be any initiative or effort from the club. Its like they don't care. We need a good shake up from top to bottom and a much more professional approach to League Football.I think the Supporters Trust will have a big role to play in revitalizing the club and suggesting new initiatives. Recently, someone I know emailed the club offering to pay for Bay Radio advertising to boost the crowd for the Crewe game. The club didn't even bother to reply! We need passion, hard work and inspiration from all involved with our club if we are to survive and prosper. The present set-up is not good enough.

I agree with most of your post except for the last part. We need to keep talking to those sponsors. If we took them for granted then we'd face a real problem if they stopped.

Offer local bands a few quid to play in the bar after the game. Start a gig at 6:30pm until 8pm (for example) to keep people behind after the match. In the early days, the great unwashed were not allowed in the W&L suite and had to go in the Bar & Grill. As a result, many fans never see a MotM award etc now. But the MotM award is done in front of a quarter full room. Why not try a MotM award in the Bar & Grill (perhaps coincided with a name change!) so it is done in a full bar and all fans can start to feel closer to the players/club once again? If it starts to pick up again, then reverse it once more but with EVERYONE made welcome upstairs.

They could repeat the MotM in the lower bar for the great unwashed! I've never been in the W&L suite after a match as i'm just a northern terracer :o

If we could get people down to the club for a beer or two an hour before the game and keep them behind for a couple of hours after it would be a big help... and possibly more fun too!

The man of the match might be a bit tired too after putting in a ''man of the match worthy'' shift on the pitch, to go on a trip around the stadium collecting bottles of Lambrella''.

Looks like the mob on Merseyside are getting their house in order and the Business Board seems quite a proactive idea. There is also talk of a record transfer and going full time next season. It sounds like our club 15 years ago.

Ok fair point but don't we have a commercial director/general manager and a commercial manger on could talk to the sponsors while the other was out the front talking to the ordinary fans.
