Team spirit

Postby Christies Child » Sun Feb 05, 2017 6:11 pm

I can't think of may other clubs where there would be a greater team spirit considering what is going on other than our lads.

Even the new lad from Everton seems to have got into it.

And Alex K's remarks about 'lions' shows that the lads keep abreast of the situation but is able to have a laugh at Cala's expence.

When I was in hospital, in Liverpool, after my operation that went wrong, my first physiotherapist was chatting to me about football, while I was struggling to sit up in the bed. Obviously, I was a rarity in there, a Morecambe fan! Anyway, this lad had once covered a Morecambe reserve game for a mate. Jim was the reserve team manager at the time. He said he was just doing this one-off as a favour to his friend, so wasn't expecting to get involved. He was hanging on the periphery as Jim gave his game talk. He said, "then Jim came straight up to me, grabbed me in a bear-hug and lifted me up, saying 'come on lad, you're part of the team now'". :D He said he felt instantly like he belonged and suddenly he cared whether the team won or not, whereas previously, he'd never really been bothered. He kept his eye open for Morecambe from then on.

It's more than just spirit, it's culture! And it is amazing.

I openly agree that the team spirit is there for everyone to see, but the camaraderie and will to win comes from the players and how they live and interact with each other.
These lads aren't getting paid but play for the man standing next to them on the pitch- no higher friendship/ Camaraderie but for each other- play for badge, the badge is a joke and isn't even paying them!!!!!

Lets be realistic, JC isn't the answer but people need to start getting paid by a realistic owner/ benefactor. Board have done sweet FA other than take us to the brink- time for something different

Some people have very short memories. If I was a Board member I'd be bloody annoyed at some of the comments directed at the Board. The Board can only bankrole the club for so long. If we had had a couple of decent FA Cup runs then I doubt we'd be in this position and maybe if the gates had been close to 2000 then we'd certainly not be in this position. PMcG would have sold his shares but the opportunity to take over a club with considerably less of a debt would have been more appealing than the present position.

People are very quick to point the finger but what would they have done to improve things :?: Reduce Jim's budget even further which is the largest outgoing in the club :?:

Suggestions..... :?: :?: :?:

So C C we are allowed to critisize everybody else but according to you not the main board etc who it is widely believed that a lot of things could have been done differently and you have said that plenty of times in the past

Critisize by all means, but I take exception to 'board have done sweet FA'....when if it hadn't been for them we'd be struggling playing on cabbage patches in some obscure non league.

Yes we are in dire straits but that is the result of the Board and PMcG in particular putting their money into the club to provide FL status which we all craved for, in some cases over many decades. In recent years it's proved too costly with gates figures reducing year on year. We've probably lost circa £6500 per game over the last season or so which is a significant amount to have to fund from other resources.

However we are where we are and only time will tell if we'll get out of what has become a terrible mess.

I'm not wrong though.....in light of your total disregard for the wishes of JB, he has sent you a message Neil, he spoke via the medium and said ''Tell the user of my name, he's no son of mine'', he suggested you change your username to ''Peters child''.

Whoever it was that made the decision to pay H.M.R.C. last month rather than pay the players and Globe staff their wages made a big mistake.

On the face of it, I would agree BUT without knowing all the facts regarding when the payment was due or even overdue we have to be cautious about suggesting that it was a big mistake.

HMRC don't hang around for payment these days like they used to and for all we know the club may have been issued with a final, final demand that threatened prosecution if payment wasn't made.

It's obviously the clubs choice to decide the risk of a fine....or even worse...or payment. The club obviously chose HMRC to save potential problems....albeit at the expence of player and staff wages. Their choice but would we have done different in their position being in full possession of the facts and consequencies for defaulting on payment... :?: :?: :?:

None of us like this situation, but whatever you think of Burnard and his past, he has (virtually) ended up owning a football club without actually wanting to own one.
Diego passed the EFL test, not him. This leaves Burnard in a position where he is not allowed to pay money (even if he wanted to) because of EFL rules.

The only people who can pay wages are the old / current board of directors, Abdul and Diego I think!? Could be wrong though!

Not often that Shrimpy and I agree.. ...but on this one 100% in agreement that it's Diego and Abdul to sort out.

And the longer it goes on, the problem(s) get worse.....so come on D & A you've created this problem (along with PMcG who put too much trust in both of you) please get it resolved then we can go forward not backwards.

I know , I deal with HMRC on behalf of clients every day of the week.

But assuming we have a decent brief , he would have said at the hearing that the club was in the process of being taken over , then the judgement would have been set aside and put back to a later hearing at which time funds should be available.

By not paying the staff it means that's the club is dependent on the goodwill of the players etc to be able to continue trading.

A decent brief would have cost..so maybe the best option was to pay up. Also we don't know what's going on behind the scenes so maybe, just maybe the situation was explained to Jimbo and the players. Certainly if it had been me, I'd have kept the manager and co up to speed with all developments..it's the least they deserve.

However just hope that we don't face another crisis come the end of this month..... :(
