I'd better say sod all then......but that isn't my style.

Last night was the first time for possibly 10 seasons that l've watched a game from behind the goals and in fairness it wasn't that bad other than the fact that the game was terrible and more like a new game of sky ball.

As for the Omega it isn't as bad as some people make out. Sure it is far removed from the North Stand at Christie and it would have been ideal if that stand could have been included in preference to what we have now, but my understanding is that there was not enough time in the close season to dismantle, move and reassemble due to the need to get an operating licence prior to the start of the season.

The stand in my opinion is if anything too low at the back and would be improved by better lighting and a lick of paint to get rid of the horrible grey.

Viewing wise it wasn't that bad but some did make the comment that when full it is difficult to see both sides of the pitch if you are stood near the corners of the stand.

Catering wise it did look to me as though there where enough staff to cater for the crowd. The lone table at the rear against the wall was I was informed a new addition. I can however support those who complain about the lack of some cover if and when it rains.

So overall a welcome experience and certainly not as bad as I was lead to belive BUT when it rains I can imagine and have sympathy with those who have issues with the lack of suitable cover.

Maybe as and when the new owner takes charge he or she will be prepared to invest in some kind of cover but as I stated earlier it most certainly is no North Stand which begs the question was the North Stand actually above our expectations at the time..

I do however prefer to watch a game at any ground form the side will therefore be assuming my usual position in the stands but fair play to those who week in, week out prefer to watch from the Omega and do their best to create a match day atmosphere in support of the lads on the field.

The roof is to low for me which doesn't give it good acoustics there is nowhere for the noise to travel.

When I sit in the PMG even when the singing is in full song it's not as clear and loud as it was at CP it's a bit muffled and the noise doesn't go around the ground as much.

The view is ok though although a few more steps would have been good to view from a slightly higher position.

I started watching Morecambe after the North Stand was built, so was used to its size when we moved to the "Globe" and obviously feel, like P/T Indie, that the Omega Stand is a retrograde step in terms of, lets say, ambience. It'd be interesting to hear the views of those whose "behind the goal" experience pre-dates the North Stand and how those facilities compared with the current stand.

Facilities at the School End of Christie Park before the North Stand ??

None existent. It was just an open expanse of old stone terracing with no cover at all. Admitedly, there WAS an old roof on it until December 1986 though.

The only "facilities" we had were the old toilets in Clarrie's groundsman hut and the superb tea bar in the paddock which was of course housed in the main stand.

Cheers mate! So from what I can gather, before the North Stand was built, the "match day experience" was worse than it is now...? Therefore, we were either spoilt with the Holy North Stand, or whoever was responsible for the final decision on the Omega Stand specs (for whatever reason, to be fair) made this "match day experience" worse for the vast majority of us. From what I understand, certain club directors do dip into this forum now and again, so perhaps they'd like to prioritise my suggestion, or those of others, of finding the means to cover the area between the back of the Omega Stand and the perimeter wall as being very important with respect to supporter satisfaction and the future sustainability of being a League 2 club at least?

I would like to invite CC to view a game from the berlin wall area.it has an amazing vista,you can see where all the money went from there.our promised roofed north stand plans were sacrificed.talk about "how the other half live".come on neil give it a try please

I remb the days before the north stand as well. The difference back then was we were non league so could pop into JBs at half time.

Also you could walk around the ground in those days and go in the umbro stand for half the game or if the weather was bad.

To be fair the north stand never had any catering facilities it was just the caravans and the beer van didn't come until a lot later.

I don't think it's so much comparing it's just when u go to a new build people's expecting are that there will be new facilities. I keep saying it all we needed is a little indoor bar like at burton away end nothing fancy and nit a full concourse just a small space inside the stand.

From my trips to Burton , 3 of our stands (main grandstand and both ends) are better than Burtons. Our Omega and Bay just need finishing off with similar facilities behind them. Maybe the answer at the Bay Stand is to knock down that wall and put a secure fence further out on the pavement to allow it to be less clostrophobic. I do like what they did at Burton down their Car Wash/Berlin Wall side with that long covered terrace. If we had something like that I would move my season ticket to it.

It's basically a walk-in version of our bar. Perhaps their stand is a little larger but the room is certainly there!

CC's experience last night was not representitive of a typical match in the stand, firstly ,and most importantly the weather was mild and pleasant , even a modest drizzle obviously makes queueing purchasing and consuming refreshments a miserable experience, which, if you want a pie and a pint , you have to suffer twice, the view of the pitch is pretty poor , last night however was as good as it gets as there were around 300 ( less than a third of its capacity) in the stand, anything more than half full and it's awful, especially for children, the fact of the matter is this area of the stadium is the only affordable one for a bloke on the average wage, and it is probably made even more annoying when you are stood looking at the monstrous ''legacy'' that JBC's generosity has funded for Peter.

We were truly spoilt when we got the North Stand back in the late 90s. It transformed CP from a a pretty average non-league ground into something a bit unique. FA Cup games with 3000+ behind the goal was a bit like having a mini Kop! You got a great view at the top and the acoustics were awesome. Facilities weren't really built in though, but until we made L2 fans just went in JB's. We did though eventually get a cozy bar with gazebo and patio heater round the back. It wasn't perfect, but the club did what it could to keep the masses happy.

Usually when a club moves ground, facilities improve significantly. With the Omega we got a massive letdown. From the moment we saw the pics of the building I started to mourn the North Stand. In reality though it kind of fits our fanbase's needs in terms of capacity, but the facilities are a slap in the face. Get a roof, few tables, TVs etc and we can finally move on from this endless discussion.

I know you & CC are like oil & water, but give the guy a break! He was invited to join others for this game and he did so, then fed back as he saw it. Fair play to him for doing so. But I don't think he arranged the weather!
