Retained list?

Retained list?

Postby Christies Child » Tue May 02, 2017 2:06 pm

Who would you retain if you managed our club?

Can be little dispute that a number of our squad haven't performed to expectations for one reason of another.

So to get the ball rolling and to create a further bit of heated discussion( ) here's my selection for those to be shown the way out:

Fleming
Murphy
Wakefield (assuming that he's not on a 2 year deal)
Conlan
and unfortunately Baz if we are unable to negotiate a reduction in his wages and by doing so be able to attract a quality striker with part of Baz's wage reduction going towards the cost of proven striker.....

If possible I'd like to retain the services of Whitmore and certainly Wildig who for me has had injury problems that have resulted in him being unable to play to his full potential. Another 12 month contract for Kevin although maybe to fill an impact subs role later in the season.

Of the remainder both Rose and Mullers need to offered contracts that will be sufficient to persuade them to stay for what I hope will be our best FL season to date..subject of course to whom Jim is able to recruit.

Conlan has another year, not convinced with Wakefield and for me Murph has not been up to it.

Fleming
Mullers
Whitmore
Wildig
Edwards

Molly is borderline
Rose seems to be off
Kev and Baz are good pros to have around the place and I think Nizic will fill his boots

Is Rose leaving us? :o
Has something been said about that?

I thought Rose was one of our best players this season - was hoping we could keep him!

I don't recall using those exact words but for me he's not fulfilled his potential but there are others who feel differently which is ok by me.

Be good to hear what you think of who should be released..... :?: :?: :?:

The following players are signed up for next year:

Nizic
Conlan
Winnard
McGowan
Turner
Jordan
Brownsword

I would offer deals to:

Roche
Kenyon
Edwards
Mullin
Ellison
Fleming
Rose
Wildig

I suspect we will lose Edwards and Rose unfortunately.

I would release:

Wakefield
Murphy
Molyneux

Of all the loan players I'd try and get Whitmore signed on a permanent deal but not too bothered about Duckworth. I suspect Evans will be still kept on the books at Everton so wouldn't be available for us to make a move for.

I would go with yours apart from one change. I think Molyneux is worth persevering with , and has a good left foot for crosses/shots so I would release Wakefield and Murphy(his agent has been hawking him on Twitter since he scored at Doncaster).

and it would be so typical for Accrington Stanley to resign all three if them, and then get the best out of them again.

Murphy could benefit from a summer break, I think he came back a bit soon, Moly is as good as we will get given the fact we are skint, I think there will be a few looking elsewhere in the near future and although the court case is concluding and rumours aboundno one will rush to sign for us until we have a new owner.

I'd keep Moly and let Flemmo go. Moly is a lot more versatile (can play 4 or 5 positions, sometimes all in a single game!). Yes, he has his weaknesses (like them all at our level), made worse by playing in so many different positions so he's suffered from lack of continuity and partnering, but he has a hell of a left foot and has scored some cracking goals (mostly when played in his favoured position). Flemmo has not versatility at all and just can't overcome the way his first reaction always seem to be passing it backwards - two years ago, his contract was renewed on the basis of giving him a chance to prove himself, but in those two years, he's just not improved at all.

I expected us to be relegated this season, so for me they have exceeded expectations.

Everyone to stay apart from Murphy and Molyneux.

I agree word for word with that. However, it's all dependent on the court case. As MPH has suggested, if there's not a favourable outcome shortly then we may not be able to attract anybody better and we'll be lucky to simply retain the likes of Moly.

I think if you said to jim he could re-sign all the players for next season right now then he would do. With uncertainty over the ownership it's going to be difficult to attract any players at the minute so but I'm pretty sure we'll know more in a couple weeks time. Me personally would keep the majority besides Peter Murphy who looks like he's had 2 many injuries to play at this level.

We'll do well to keep hold of rose and mullin at this rate and I think edwards is definitely on his way after the season he's had. Hopefully the court case is sorted asap so jim can start making offers to players !

I would think anyone who Jim is releasing will have been told already or will be told fairly soon so that they can try and get fixed up elsewhere.

For me it's more important that those who Jim wishes to retain are offered new deals and that we know as a matter of urgency if they prefer to go elsewhere so that Jim can devote all of his time to rebuilding. We can't affrod to be left wondering if they will or will not sign.

My big three of Mullers, Rose and Edwards need to let us know if they are prepared to sign a new contract. I suspect thst there will be an increasing number of players available so only the better ones will be guaranteed contracts wilh FL clubs.

Both Jim and Ken signed contract extensions at the end of August 2015 to stay at Morecambe FC until the end of the 2017 / 2018 season. It's on The Bay website if you do a search.
