Abba Penalties

From next season you will have to listen to abba if you lose a penalty shootout......

Real world:
The English Football League (EFL) is introducing the new ABBA format for penalty shoot-outs in its competitions during the 2017/18 season.

Already being trialled by UEFA, the system is based on the format used in tennis tie-breaks, with the team taking the first kick in each pair of kicks alternating, so AB BA AB and so on, instead of AB AB etc.

in the first 5 ABBA kicks it's a shame one side didn't take a chance...

The other system that was mooted had that ABBA formation for the first four, then it had to be a 'Defender' taking the fifth one. Then that formation was repeated. Then the next two had to be 'Outfield' players (ie they didn't want keepers taking penalties number 11 and 12).

I forget what they called that idea.

Stupid?

Why fix what isn't broke? I enjoy seeing penalties going to the goalkeepers! I don't understand what the ABBA is trying to fix? Change for change's sake? No other new rules for this season, so got to fiddle with something?

I read it & re-read it, thinking this looks like the format of a joke, but I still didn't see it (& still don't?) and it does sound like the kind of dumb thing they would try to do.

ABBA... then a defender - 'D'
repeat that
then two Outfield players - 'O'
