I thought Jim's interview was spot on.He said that getting players in late who missed most or all of the pre season preparation has contributed to the slow start.
Once they start to gel, he is confident that things will improve.
I agree with him. Some of you on here are far too impatient for instant positive results.
I think we are in a better place than this time last year, although at the moment our league position of 20th would dispute that.

We had three shots on target, Freez, but they went straight at the keeper. What's the excuse in the other games? It's a worry surely that we are the lowest scorers in league 2 and are the only League 2 club not to have scored in the first half of any game. I suspect its more than bad luck at shooting straight at the opposition keepers. The only goal in the last five games was as a result of an error by the Stanley keeper. I wonder if we should give Lang an extended run in the side? I also think Osborne has something to offer. We seem to go out to keep a clean sheet rather than go at the opposition from the kick off. This tactic isn't working so lets have a change.

It would appear from watching the highlights on the OWS that we appear to have difficulty in putting together a collection of passes without resorting to what appears panic distribution.

The opposition appear to have time and space to pass at will with players creating space for the return pass.

I'm sure that JImbo and Co are doing their best on the training ground to develop a style of play that we as fans can applaud but to date it appears to be some time off and in the meantime the lack of composure on the field is having a serious impact on results.

Given time we will get it right but it's so frustrating to know that we have the players with the skill to be successful; maybe it's a confidence issue that is preventing us to play the way that we can.

I know you shouldn’t read too much into statistics and I usually take them with a massive pinch of salt. But in the past three games we’ve upped our possession from 45% (Cambridge and Accy) to 49% against Notts.

We’ve also reduced the gap between the opposition’s attempts on target and our own (Cambridge 5, Us 1; Accy 10, Us 1; Notts 6, Us 3).

And we’ve upped our attempts on target from one in each of those first two games to three (still not a big deal and nowhere near enough... but at least some progress).

I also believe there’s been a general overall improvement, since half time in the Accy game, in the understandings between players in various sections of the team.

I’ve gone from (post Cambridge) thinking it’d be a real task to find two worse teams in our division, to a kind of ‘I think it’ll come..’ mentality.

We need lots of improvement and we haven’t been good in any of those games, don't get me wrong – but I have more hope now than I did a fortnight ago. Just my opinion.

Osbourne has shown some promise and I really like the look of Lang and agree he’s worth a start soon, somehow – maybe in a 4-4-2 with Thommo up front. He looks like a quicker Cole Stockton to me.

As I said... I take them with a pinch of salt on their own, I'm not daft.

But I think they do actually bear out what I've also seen... and that is gradual signs of improvement. Still nowhere near good enough, as I've said, but at least giving me some hope.

This doesn't take into account Saturdays match but does cover our first 5 league games:

No side faces more shots per game than us and only Grimsby manage to create fewer changes.

It is noticeable during a game that much of our possession is across the defence, then back to the keeper as the opposition attack smells blood.
2 or 3 times times on Saturday we would be going forward beyond the half way line, only for the ball to be passed all the way back. One also went out for a corner like it did at Cambridge.

On another occasion there was space up the right wing for our full back to go into, but sadly he didn't and got a lot of stick for not doing so.

Seems a while now since we had Wilson and Beeley taking turns to fly up the wings
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

I am pretty sure I posted this same graphic around the same time last year when we were flying high stating we had been a tad lucky in games. Saturday is not reflective of it in the two goals that we conceded but thinking about Accy's first the week before, Barnsley's winner in the cup...we allow far too many efforts from long range, chances are one is going to connect and fly in.

Can't really comment on the lack of creativity other than it is noticeable! But in terms of the defence..surely this is something that can be addressed?? Roche will deservedly go down as a Morecambe legend and his reaction shot stopping is possibly the best in the league. He does however get beaten far too often from long range...again something we should surely be protecting him better from
