Winnard - is he serious?

I think this is one of the best squads we've had, all things considered, and that's down to Jim.

not a bad start to this season.

my only snag is playing Winnard(who I rate) being played when he's injuried, I praised Jim last week for resting and not taking a gamble on Olivier, however Jim took one with Winnard, when we've a decent size squad to pick from, we could have still played 3 at the back with as follows assuming fit.

if not then a flat back four and fully fit midfielder, but anyway, let's wipe our mouths, and look to the next game.

I would say the squad this time 2 years ago (I think) was the best. There was so much optimism that we might finish high. It is the only season really I have been totally disappointed. Last season and this I expect to finish low.

If he's an injury, then he shouldn't be on the pitch - we're not short of CB's at the moment.

If he's not injured, then he shouldn't be on the pitch as he's not competent. He did the same at the Accy match but luckily Barry saved it. His headers are also all over the place.

Eitherway, he shouldn't be playing on Saturday. He needs some time out to get himself together, whatever the reason.

For me Muller is more competent both as a defender and with the ball.

In the few games that he's played to date, he is prepared to go forward with the ball at his feet and get the midfield involved rather than hoof it forward.

Unfortunately I suspect that is not what Jim and Co want or expect from a central defender.

And for what it's worth young Lavelle is a fine prospect and is more than capable of filling Winnard's boots also.....

He did lose his brother in a tragic accident towards the end of last season and he does look like a man with a lot on his mind.

Maybe some time off to recuperate and get his head together as we have Muller , Kenyon , Lavelle etc that can play alongside Old.

Just watched the extended highlights on our OWS.

What really annoys me about the Winnard incident is the way that he made little attempt to retrieve the situation especially when the goalscorer had all the time in the world to walk the ball into the net.

He just gave up when with a bit of determination he could have negated his error.

I personally wouldn't play him on Saturday, but what's the betting he starts....

that was very casual defending, must have thought he was having a knock about with his mates.

Jim was relieved that all we gave away was a goal. He suggested how much worse it would have been if Baz or Winnard had brought Zoko down meaning a double whammy , red card and a goal.
