Shrimps Trust - honest assessment so far...

Shrimps Trust - honest assessment so far...

Postby Wild Bill » Tue May 29, 2018 1:35 am

With the Shrimps Trust operating for about a year and memberships due, can we have some honest assessments of the progress made?

Living abroad, I don't think I am aware of everything that's been done and also probably not the best person to give a assessment. I do though feel we need more people to get involved and become members and trustees to really have some influence going forward.

A few honest questions:

How are things better than the FCOM days with 200-300 members?

Has communication with he club improved? Is this information being distributed well enough to members?

What is being done to broaden the membership? In particular with young people and the business community?

I'd like to see more done with away travel and would be happy to pay a extra a year to put in a kitty to either run a big trip each season or some sort of discount for a regular coach.

I will be renewing regardless, however an honest discussion on here may provide those within ST some useful feedback.

In my view, I think the Trust is doing a fabulous job and has had a great first year.

Over 400 members I believe, which is a big jump from FCOM (can’t believe it isn’t more though, why doesn’t every regular fan join?); great communications through the website and email newsletters; fabulous commercial deals, which put the club to shame; and made some head way on being the voice of the fans. Lastly, some great events, which have created income to help support Jim and get activities like the Legends Wall up and running.

Additionally, Stuart Rae is an excellent Chair and there is a really good team of people such as Jack Steer, Jimmy Goulding and others helping push it forward. Just needs more Trustees with experience, as I think this year, more than ever, we may need it.

As some one involved with FCOM. The Trust is everything and More of what I expected. But can with help be even better. It still needs more people to get involved. The current board of Trustees have done wonders tuning FCOM which was seen as a joke by a lot of fans into something We can all get behind. #StrongerTogether

As a Trustee any feedback is more than welcomed. Ultimately we are acting for the membership so we are always open to listening to ideas. For those not aware there has been a suggestions box at the information box for most of the season, and we invite feedback on here, Facebook, Twitter or by email, and we held an open evening which was attended by a small number of members.

We set out with a target of 500 members so we are delighted with the progress so far, which is just short of 400.

Elections

Our nomination period to stand as a Trustee is open and this was communicated to members last week by email. Details are on our website as follows: https://shrimpstrust.co.uk/the-trust/election-2018

To answer Wild Bill's point, there is no specific skills that we are looking for but we do need people who are willing to invest time in the Trust in whatever capacity that might be. Feel free to email us if you would like more information before applying (or PM any of us on here).

All the Trustees are volunteers and are fully paid up members of the Trust in their own right.

AGM

Our first AGM has been announced for 19th July. We hope to link this with some sort of player panel so will announce more details in due course but the more people that can come to this the better as we will present a picture of everything the Trust has done this year.

All our meetings throughout the year are minuted and these are available on our website at: https://shrimpstrust.co.uk/news/minutes . This includes meetings which have occurred with the Board which we hope to build on going forward.

2018-19 Membership

Membership renewals are now being taken for 2018-19 as membership expires on 31 May 2018 (discount cards can be used until end of July). Any existing member who renews their membership before that date will be entered into a prize draw to win an 18-19 shirt of their choice.

Memberships are being taken online at: https://shrimpstrust.co.uk/membership/membership-form

Hopefully people will keep supporting us through membership, but also by engaging with us to make the match day experience more enjoyable for all!

I would like to mention Jimmy Goulding. What a great job he is doing as a trustee. I joined on Tuesday night and he hand delivered my pack the following morning.

hear hear. Cycled out to Hornby to hand deliver to my step mum in my absence and mentioned how polite and enthusiastic he was. Great job, mate.
