Oswell signs

See OWS for details.

If he turns out to be as good as Jack then he'll do. 2 year deal. Congrats to the Board on backing Jim.

Creative general in midfield would do nicely. Wonder if kKvin will feature more in a central role rather than wing man.

With there being a few clubs linked with signing Oswell, does this mean we are able to financially compete with other clubs now?

good news, just hope we dont sign anymore forwards, Oswell, Oats, Olivier, Ellison, Campbell thats enough.

still need another 2 or 3 proper midfielders.

Great news. Should be a good signing with his record, albeit at a lower level. I really don't think that will matter though - when you know where the back of the net is as well as he does then I don't think it will be such a big step up for the lad.

I presume this may mean that Oliver won't really feature and may go out on loan? We had Oliver, Lang (loan) and McGurk last year. Now we have Oswell, Oates and Mendes Gomes all on permanent deals.

Fantastic signing. Quality young player on the up. Brilliant work Jim to persuade him to go full time and to move to us.

Jim’s gems again. We’re never going to sign proven players but we’re signing enough of the right type of player. Defence looks good, although could do with some cover. A midfield playmaker would nice though.

Exactly. We need to give the lad time to settle in.

good bit of buisness

i watched a good video of Oswell scoring goals, noticed he scores a lot from crosses(and he says so himself in an interview) he looks good in the air.

however i just hope we can bring in some creativity in midfield, otherwise Oswell could end up with the same service as Olivier with long balls played down the middle of the park with his back to the goal, instead of from wide positions being played across the face of goal by an attack minded midfield.

I'm happy with the Strikers we've got now, from watching games last season its creativity whats missing, fingers crossed for some more signings.

Just hope that JB and Co let him play his natural game and don't start messing around and ask him to play out wide. Goal poachers of his potential operate in the centre and rely on service from the wings. We need to find some creative genius from somewhere to make us a good team to watch and then who knows where it will lead. A certain Jamie Devitt would thrive on knowing that there is someone at the end of his crosses.

Red Robbo, do you prefer the passing game, or Hoofball?

I was chatting to another local (Milnthorpe-based) Morecambe fan about this yesterday, saying that from the video Jason seems to score a lot from crosses, but we've a tendency to boot it forward so that he (or last season Oliver) could end up receiving the ball with his back to goal. From very limited evidence, he seems to like to use his head, in particular, and score from balls crossed in from the wings, so I hope we can create the supply he needs to provide us with the goods.
