Rod Taylor for chairman???

Rod Taylor for chairman???

Postby mrpotatohead » Thu Jul 05, 2018 8:28 am

The new owners are, for the moment , apparently happy to let Peter McGuigan remain as chairman , in my view this is a mistake.

Mr McGuigan delivered his promise of football league status, and we should thank him for this, but the cost of his cotinued stewardship has been the loss of the town teams identity, the support of the town, and nearly, it's existence.

If the new owners do not intend replacing Mr McGuigan themselves, then surely, should he want the job, there is only one man suitable, the face of Morecambe FC should be Rod Taylor.

Rod has held the role previously, loves Morecambe and Morecambe FC, has a LOT of respect in the town and of course amongst us supporters.

To us, he is a complete LEGEND.

Rod IN

PMG OUT

As distant from all this that I am two things strike me . Firstly, as you both say, Rod would have to want to take on the job. Secondly PMG might be reluctant to give up the post as it looks like he is still owed a lot of money by the club.

It appears that the new owners have more confidence in PMcG remaining as Chairman than certain individuals on this forum. The only people who can oust him from that position are in fact the new owners, so although there is a call for Rod to take over (and I would endorse that) PMcG will remain as Chairman and there is nothing that minor shareholders can do about it. I'm glad that JB has by the sounds of it been given an improved budget for the coming season but an improved budget could mean delivering a more successful season in the eyes of the new regime.

if Peter had handled the move better with all them Millions from Sainsbury's and built a better Ground and actually finished off the building properly making it future proof, maintenance friendly we could have been looking at bigger attendances every week, so then perhaps Peter wouldn't have to be waiting for any money back at all.

PMG said he had to stump up 250k extra or the Contractors were downing tools. I still say they should have never let a Postman build a Football stadium.

The rules are defined in the company's articles of association so I assume you have read those?
