If people think Big Jim is under pressure... It's nothing like what Kevin Nolan is under at Notts County

If we play that team and go at teams rather than worry about them, we will be reet. They couldn't handle us.

I can easily say that was the most spirited and excellent performances of the last couple of years at the globe, no player let us down today and we deserved it so much!!!

Only worry is that our entire team will need the next 3/4 days off to recover and I doubt Wildig will return on Saturday after his injuries, but...

COYS!

This was an amazing example of how formation and setup (plus obviously hard work, extremely hard work!) can beat the actual players on the pitch, and all of the fans were amazing, we cheered Alex’s saves more than we have done for amazing goals!!

Even single one of those players that went out there tonight should be immensely proud!

Well wow. From Nag’s Head to Brazil in a week.

It was that much of an improvement. We knew there was a football in there just waiting to burst out of the dire stuff of this season (and the end of the last season).

Honestly, that’s the best 90 minutes of football I’ve seen at home for a couple of seasons, even Yeovil we played poorly first half.

Jim hates it when fans think they know better than him but we could all see that the four poorest players this season have been Vadaine, Kev, Alex and sadly Cranston. So no surprise that we start playing when they were out.

Man of the match for me was Oates, who I thought was magnificent but AJ, Aaron or Flemmo were all in with a shout. Every player played a part and at times I though we were imperious. The megs from Mills, the flick over the top from Mandeville and just so much good on the deck passing and movement.

I clap when we do something well and my hands are raw. Great performance.

As for Alex’s keeper cameo - nail biting, brilliant and what an end to the game.

I don't think 99.9% of Latics fans will be thinking that after tonight's nil niller but its set up to be a cracker with 1500 away sold and 1700 + expected.
Great for the coffers and they'll be some atmosphere

Agree with Posh, that was a really entertaining game and that last 10 minutes was incredible, albeit the longest injury time ever endured!

Happy to be leaving the Globe with a smile for once!

At last we get the team and formation that we have been asking for and surprise surprise it works so please lets not change back again it was a joy to watch and if we keep playing attractive attacking football like that then the fans will return. Wildig had such a good game probably because at last he has players around him who can not only pass the ball but also have good movement allowing him to make the passes that he seldom gets the chance to make. In a strange sort of way Kenyon's heroics in goal was the icing on the cake, pure theatre.

A thoroughly entertaining match last night. Weak ref, who could've handled the ruckus a lot better, preferably by dishing out a straight red for the lad who stamped on Aaron. My only black marks on that game are:

1. Barry Roche - didn't deserve applauding off hte field, as both cards were unnecessary and not the example the captain should be setting.
2. The substitutions -
a) Oates was playing better than Mandeville (although both were playing well), so if either had to come off I'd have taken Liam, but frankly unless they were run out, I'd have preferred both to stay on instead of Kev.
b) We had a -9 goal difference and looked like scoring more until Oswell went off for Kenyon in a seriously defensive move with only a 1 goal lead - thanks for doing it though, because if Kenyon hadn't been on the field and all 3 subs used when Bazza's stupidity saw him binned we would almost certainly have lost.
c) Would like to have seen Mendes-Gomes given more time, and next time with 11 men on the field so we're not in panic defensive mode.

Only niggles really, because as someone else has already said, if we play like that (or certainly the first 60 minutes) every week we'll have no worries come April, and I would expect attendances to be up.

Jim in!

I think last night showed with the right team selection, well timed substitutions, and players keeping injury free, we have a mid table side. I also think last night showed once more what a poor standard of refereeing there is in league 2.

WOW! Was that the same MFC who have under performed over the months :?: Just goes to show that those screaming for a more attack minded set up especially at home can provided a valued contribution some of the time. Here's hoping that the starting 11 last night can continue to be the preferred option and that the front 2 partnership of AJ and Oswell can flourish from the creativity of last nights outstanding performance of Aaron (probably rates as one of his best performances in a red shirt) who with the valued contributions of excellent performances of Oates, Manderville (seems to get better with every game for me) and Fleming look a far better proposition than the absent Oliver who may be on his way to a loan deal elsewhere :?:

For me the only downside was the introduction of Kevin which seemed to take away our attacking threat and the subsequent (but as it turned out thankfully) the introduction of Kenyon for Oates and Oswell which I hope was more down to physical conditions rather than tactical substitutions.

As others have commented the referee was at best poor but he had no option other than to send our Captain off after he stupidly got involved in some verbals with the ref resulting in his first yellow card and his second was the result of a somewhat ill timed tackle outside his area. Sorry Baz but can't defend you on this occasion. Thankfully Kenyon performed miracles and rightly deserved his MoM award.

Looking towards the next home game v Oldham, let's hope that JB and Co select the same 11 and that we continue with 2 up front as was so evident at times last night. Any return to type will not go down well with fans, so here's hoping that we concentrate on winning rather than defending at home at least.

Not often that I can say this, but was delighted with the team's performance and style of play for the most part :D It's the way forward surely.... :?: :?: :?:

Have you seen the way Oates walks about off the ball? He is either naturally unfit or gets tired easily. I really like him but every game I have seen him he seems knackered all the time.

A fantastic performance.

The quality of our passing and movement off the ball was something that we have not witnessed at the Globe for a long time. Added to that we pressed their defence high up the pitch, rather than inviting pressure by sitting deep, when we were not in possession and all of the players put their bodies on the line for the cause.

More of the same please.

I agree. I actually turned to the guy who sits next to me at one point in the first half and said 'when was the last time you saw Morecambe closing down the opposition in midfield like that?'
