Shocked and saddened to have just read about this on Facebook.

I don't think Wiggy attended matches at The Globe but was an absolute stalwart at Christie Park and was part of the furniture, as was his family before him.

Saw him often around the Arndale Centre and we'd always stop and have a chat.

RIP Wiggy :(

Very sad news. Fond memories of Wiggy when we were in the Boys Brigade together at Torrisholme Methodist Church in our very much younger days.

Had strong views about the Globe and was an ever present at Christie Park.

RIP

A regular in the York Hotel until recently. Rest in peace, big man. Sad to realise all three amigos have been lost in the space of 12 months...

I was reading something from Mundial Magazine just this week about a guy at Hornchurch who is one of those club characters everyone knows, and Wiggy came to mind. Couldn't find anything on here about him from previous years. I spent a while searching on SVs and online trying to find out if he was still around but nothing came up (The Visitor's site is near to useless). Remember him always being there in Christie Park days and at Junior Reds. Sad news indeed.

One for the legends wall?

Here's the Hornchurch article, it's a good read and could be about many of our club's community too - https://mundialmag.com/2018/10/04/afc-h ... -cup-2018/

Another sad loss. Wiggy was such a feature at Christie Park. I always introduced him as Eric Morecambe’s cousin and he always use to snap back “NEPHEW!!!” and then grin madly.

When he wouldn’t come to the Globe it was a big sign of what we were losing and some of the animosity it created.

To see so many from the NPL and Conference days leaving us like Edgey, Geoff etc. doesn’t half give you a sense of your own mortality but reinforces that the fans are the heart and soul of a club.

Only ever knew of Wiggy when going into Charlie Wooley's chippy. Listening to the arguements between Wiggy, Charlie, and Barbara comparing liverpool, everton, and M.F.C were hilarious. R.I.P Wiggy.
