OK it was still 2 points dropped to add to the 2 points dropped against Notts County and Cheltenham.
6 points on our total and we would be above Carlisle.

Hang on a second! We didn't "get caught", it worked perfectly. What happened was the officials got it wrong when it mattered, or, more specifically, the linesman failed. Port Vale didn't 'catch us out', the linesman screwed up. Until the linesman gave them that goal, Port Vale didn't really offer anything at all. One good shot that Old dealt with superbly. In the second half, we still had more chances than Vale. Their second came while we were still chuntering about the injustice of the first, and we'd lost concentration.
Don't get me wrong, I still think we should be much more adventurous and had we really pushed hard, I think we'd have got a third. But, we also have to recognise that in the first half we had the wind behind us and a side like Port Vale, you'd expect them to come out fighting in the second half, so perhaps it was less us sitting back and more them pushing us back?

In 2nd half their fullbacks were told to push up, Conlon & Varney in the 2nd half we "1 vs 2" their goals infact came from wide positions, going around our defence instead.
Nothing to do with subtituitions, i could see where Jim was coming from on that one.
agreed i dont think it was a case of sitting back.Slanester wrote:Andy D wrote:Because we set up 4-2-3-1

After the 1st half, their fullbacks will have, of course been told to push up, along with,”press, press, press “ for the rest of the team. That is what they did, and had to do. Anything else, would probably have resulted in a proper drubbing for them. I don’t agree that we invited them on. We came under the fully expected, PV 2-0 down cosh, and were managing it, until the much talked about, WRONG decision.
Early on in the 2nd half, Kev was done. He was achieving nothing, not showing any real intent in wanting the ball, or offering himself up for throw ins etc. He needed to go off, his job done. I think Kev is a legend, but time has caught up, as it does with any sportsman.
