The problem was against two slow centre backs and a keeper who could barely hold the ball we insisted on lumping it up to Kev and Vadaine both who either failed to head it or, when they did, sent it nowhere. Both of them were pedestrian and did very little.
What we needed was tempo, pace and inventiveness, yet again though we relied on players who lack that and we just idle our way through the half. Oates should have played wide or deeper as he loves running with the ball yet he gets taken off and Kev, who was poor at Tranmere stays on.
The game cried out for playing on the deck and disappointed again at Jim’s team selection, which just delivered a fairly flat performance when we needed to give a big crowd a lift.

I know that things are different from his non league days but the lad scored a lot of goals and knows how to get in the right positions. Come on Jim. I seem to remember that it took Lim a while to have confidence in Callum last season but once he got a few starts he started scoring goals.

Mendez had a go in the second half running at their defence, but ultimately the other players just watched him. Mande should've been brought on in the 20 minute spell we had after half time but sadly he was on too late. We set up not to lose, but plan A went out of the window when Devitt was left unmarked for a free shot at goal! We are dependent on two teams being worse than us for the second season running. Different year same situation

We desperately need someone who can score goals.

Their commentators had a lot to say about Oliver, mainly that they thought he was useless on the floor and with his feet, but in the air - a real threat.
They mentioned that a fair few times too.
