Lost player's

Devitt, Podge, Miller, to name just three. Quality players ( in my opinion ) we could have done with not losing. Is it just money, or is there something else that other clubs are offering that we could do with looking at to persuade players to stay ?

We didn't lose Podge , we released him.

IMHO it was a mistake although he was never played as a striker here , more a winger despite which he got double figures in goals both seasons we had him.

Podge forever played out of position, like many of our ex players were! JB Masterclass!

Podge was released as we had better options at the time, in the view of Jim, Redshaw and Mullin to name two, nobody could know that Blackpool would offer 175k for little Jack within months.
We didn't have budget to carry him as a bit player and he was gutted when he left, as was Jim releasing him.

I agree he never played much as a central striker but that was as we did do OK with what we had at the time.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
As for Miller and Devitt, both COULD still have still been here but a certain person decided to play god and they found better jobs elsewhere, to me that is a far bigger scandal.

No doubt before long Oswell is going to join the list of players who leave us for better opportunities elsewhere. He is hardly selected in a team struggling to score goals, it just doesn't make sense!

Unfortunately Jim is never questioned about team selection and in particular of late. Why, for instance did he make 4 changes v Tranmere, a further 3 v Colchester and changes again yesterday.

I'm sure the vast majority of fans can't understand his logic in his refusal to play Oswell especially when it seems that everybody felt the partnership of Oswell and Oliver worked well and should have been continued.

It was noticeable that when Oswell was substituted v Cambridge that Jim never offered him a hand shake or even a word of praise which suggests something is seriously wrong in their relationship.

I wouldn't be surprised if Oswell is loaned out this transfer window and yet Oliver remains a fixture in the starting eleven.

Oswell will end up at another league club, and will bang a load of goals in! Jim choosing Oliver over Oswell is a sack able offence on it's own! ;)

That's why I clapped Devitt for both his goal and when he went off.

Basically, as I understand it, both him and Miller loved it at Morecambe and recognised it had revitalised both their careers. They were offered a very small increase in salary and they both accepted and were ready to start the next season. At the last minute a former Director withdrew the small wage increase because he thought he could get away with it and they left out of principle. I think if people knew the story they wouldn't have booed when he went off. He could easily still have been with us now.

IF true, then that former Director needs to be named and shamed.

Doesn't have the initials... [edited, putting the initials up like that, you may as well have named him as clearly identifiable!] ...by any chance.... :?: :?: :?:

Apparently it was a wage decrease in the end, stupidity and both Jamie and Shaun turned up with their families to pay tribute to Barry on his testimonial and both talked fondly of their time with us and said they would have loved to have stayed!!!

And that's why the likes of kenyon don't leave, who would take him, I don't think he gets any better, wholehearted performance, but lacks skill and guile to be a pro- footballer

Back to Podge.

According to reports numerous League 2 clubs have made bids for Padraig Amond who is out of contract in the Summer.

These will be clubs like Lincoln and Mansfield , maybe Carlisle. Not the club who released him !

if that's true with regards to Devitt and Miller then that's shocking.
Both were great for us and agree the time with us helped them back into the game properly.
asking them to take a pay cut when having such a great season is terrible and no wonder they left for pastures new.

Devitt played well saturday as i think he had done most times hes played us since he left, showing our former director what he messed up on.

then again are we all surprised by the actions from above or so called above.?
