Firstly, he is not saying Phil the Greek should not have been prosecuted for not wearing a seatbelt, merely that a photograph taken by a member of the public, whose location cannot be verified, and may even have been photoshopped, cannot be used as sufficient evidence by the police to mount a prosecution, and that the same rules would apply to you and me. Is that clear, or is the mud still too thick?
shrimperteer wrote:None story. Regarding the seatbelt issue, he was on a public road but the police dealt with it how they would anyone. All the reports said he was on a public road so there's no reason to just assume he was actually on private land. As the photo doesn't provide evidence either way then all the police can do is advise him.
But yes, if you're on private property you can do what you like, drive boozed up if you wish.
Driving out of a junction into moving traffic however, that wasn't so smart.

I know of at least a couple who I used to work with who had been prosecuted for driving on the M6 without a seat belt and received a right bollocking from the boss (and myself) as like me they relied on their car for the company to do business.
