Me! why?

Actually went to all three. Christie Park 1-1, think it was a Russ Perkins equaliser in front of 5,000 +. The replay at the old Springfield Park, 0-0 after extra time, in front of 11,000 +, then the second replay at Ewood park in front of 5,000+ lost 0-1.

Not a bad effort from our lads all told, Wigan really were the Non League kings in those days and we were massive under dogs. All seems so long ago, but I still have vivid memories of the games. I was a teenager at Morecambe High then and am now 60.

This is the Morecambe side I remember whilst standing on that cinder bank, Alan Taylor was signed by West Ham if memory serves me correctly?
Geoff Street was a very commanding figure in the rearguard and Russ Perkins up top, a year later and it was that long trip down the railway track from Morecambe station to the twin towers of the old Wembley stadium.
I was still at poulton le sands primary school then and am now 57.
Great days!

He went somewhere else from us, Rochdale I think? Then to West Ham. Scored two in the FA Cup semi-final & two in the final. Went to the USA & ended up in Norwich. Last I heard, he was running a newsagent in Norfolk.

So how did that work out then?

Yes ofcourse I did, they lived next to the Bradford arms, both handy lads I might add, especially Phil  but I was more worried about the Mullens on Poulton road, John being the tougher of the two brothers

Hostile.... really! Your interpretation of hostile is totally different to mine. I was merely replying to your sudden interest in that game/series of games; which hold a special memory from my youth. The word 'Why' was merely used to stimulate further discussion. Apologies if you thought it was 'hostile' it was never meant that way, I was actually really pleased at your post because of the memories it rekindled. I don't come on here for confrontation, rather conversation with fellow Shrimps fans.

I seem to remember at Wigan game at Christie there was a temporary stand behind the goal at the Lancaster Road School end. Was there or is my memory playing tricks?

I thought I had touched a nerve :?

I came across the photo's on a twitter page. It mentioned that both sets of players got on very well and went for a post game drink together at a hotel. Doesn't mention which hotel.

You seem to touch alot of nerves on here but it doesn't need to be that way
As said, time to move on and be better than all this slagging off and negative feelings towards others.
The very sad thing is, I know happier people with cancer, please be more proactive in your life and say in the mirror, today I will be happier than I was yesterday.
It works! I had to do it, when my world fell apart.

As I remember it the old original stand was still in place at the Wigan game. It must have been because it was definitely still there the following season when we played the home semi final against South Shields before going onto victory at Wembley. I remember it clearly because it was packed to the rafters that day and one of the best atmospheres I ever remember at Christie Park.

Yes, you are right Phoenix, the old stand was still there for the Wigan game but I am wondering if there was a temporary structure in the corner between the old stand and the main stand? I am sure I watched the game from there!
