As it may be, but proving to be a poor signing so far. Not a dig at DA, just fact.

JS is a hard one to figure out! One minute he’s using his pace and creating chances, tracking back and winning the ball in midfield, then the next minute he’s absolutely knackered and/or forgets how to control the ball and his first touch hits the ball 20 yards!

Well that is total bollox, did somebody ask everyone, no!

Game of 2 halves, missed our chances in the first half, as is usual in recent away games inparticular.
2nd half they were frightened of us , particularly when subs csme on with 3 up front. Battered them in last 10 + 7, could have won it in the end, but were stifled by their blatent timewasting and rolling about eveywhere, all they were doing was kicking the ball away as far as possible

Sorry, I should have put it in quotes! I was told, "...not one Morecambe fan behind the goal thought he'd been touched, they all said he'd slipped". You are correct, I don't know how big the sample size was! I'm guessing you thought it was a penalty? I thought so from watching it three times, but obviously, the camera was a long way off. Carlos said he was tripped.

So how did that work out then?

Carlos can say all he wants. He wasn’t tripped. We were directly in line with him. He went past the man and a tight angle could have shot or crossed at pace but it would have mostly likely been blocked by the defender. Instead he tried to check back inside, as he did at Walsall, but he was going too fast and ended up on his backside because he slipped, as he did throughout the match. Bambi on Ice. The defender was nowhere near him.

Carlos looked as if he stepped on the ball slightly, and slipped. I didn’t see any real contact, but shouted very LOUDLY, as you do, for a pen.
Not one of his best performances yesterday, but still an important influence in the game. “They don’t like it up em” from CMG.
Mansfield, we’ve $h!t em!!! COYS.

Keith, I thought it was a penalty at the time based on hope and the fact that they got given a fairly dubious one imo, it was more the statement of 'everyone behind the goal thought' that made me bite

This was the first game I've seen under DA and I was impressed.

Slew seems like a "warm body" signing to fill a hole for a while and nothing more. He reminds me a bit of Scott Brown from a few years ago - plenty of endeavour but almost zero quality on the ball.

I love the new central midfield, for the first time in over 10 years it looks like a proper midfield that doesn't just get cut through immediately by the opposition. Diagouraga i the DMC we've been crying out for and Phillips has bags of quality, he's destined for higher up the leagues than League Two. Having said that I didn't notice Wildig at all until he got booked late on. 2/3 isn't bad.

Mbulu looked like a DC playing at DR, solid defender but got a nosebleed past the half way line. Cranston looked like an attacking midfielder playing at DL - can't defend at all but good going forward and on the ball. Neither is an ideal solution at full back. I've always liked Cranston but not there, I might be inclined to try him in place of Wildig much further forward.

I'm not wholly convinced with Mafoumbi in nets - there was quite a lot of fisting and flapping and slipping. Not enough evidence to make a proper judgement yet though.

Overall I thought they were perhaps 1/4 of a goal better than us over the 90 minutes, they were very neat and tidy in possession up until the final ball which was usually a cross into two short guys which predictably didn't give many results. The one through ball they tried they scored from. We were much better than I've seen for a long time though and looked dangerous. There seemed to be a lot more movement than under JB - his tactics seemed much more rigid than Adams's more fluid system. Last 20 minutes we were all over them, after AJ came on.
