OLD HABITS DIE HARD

OLD HABITS DIE HARD

Postby shrimp in cyprus » Tue Mar 23, 2021 8:40 am

For many seasons now we have been looking nervously over our shoulders at those clubs below us, working out what we need to do to make sure we stay up. This season, of course, it is totally different (and most welcome), but I guess that by force of habit I was looking at the full table this morning, and suddenly realised that if both Grimsby and Southend lose tonight, we are "SAFE".
Looking at that same thing in a more positive way, whatever those clubs do tonight, we need just one more win to be mathematically safe anyway..

But ...... those are the old days; much more exciting to be thinking how many more points we (might) need to ensure either automatic promotion or at least a play-off place. And if it ends up as a play-off place, then at least we shan't be playing Dagenham & Redbridge!!!!

:D :D :D :D :D :D (Notice how many smiley faces there!!)

I know you were posting tongue in cheek, but ever the pedant, I would put money on it that you couldn't come up with any combination of results that led to every team bar one that are currently below us, getting more than 59 points. I guess you are forgetting that they can't all score 3 points a game because they are playing each other?

So .................... now the top 6 are all safe from relegation this season. But 7th placed Newport are still having to look over their shoulders. So let's push on and stretch the gap to make sure that we are (at least) in the play-offs, and hopefully in the automatic promotion places at the end of the season!!!

AND (especially for KEITH) ............ that was tongue in cheek!!!!

Great result today though (that's NOT tongue in cheek). I think we are all starting to believe.

Well done to D.A., the whole squad, and everybody connected with MFC. Although I am 2000 miles away, I sense that there are massive changes within MFC - and a belief that we can continue to progress.

No longer "little old Morecambe" are we?

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
