Who decides?

Who decides?

Postby redrobo » Tue Sep 28, 2021 11:17 am

So a 3 match ban for Shane, but who decides whether a sending off is upheld or cancelled :?: :?: :?:

Is it some faceless individual or panel that makes the ultimate decision at the EFL :?: :?: :?:

Whoever it or they are it appears to me that the referees decision 99 times out of 100 is upheld with very little time given to the rights or wrongs of the incident that sees a p-layer sent off .

Maybe someone of SVs knows the answer....

"The referee report and all evidence submitted by the club will be passed to a County Disciplinary
Commission before the automatic penalty is due to start. The player, club and referee are not invited to
attend the hearing. You will be notified of the outcome of the appeal immediately following the hearing.
What happens if the claim is successful?
If the red card is overturned, the punishment will be withdrawn and the appeal fee returned.
Where I can find out more information?
The full regulations relating to Claims for Wrongful Dismissals can be found on pages 170-172 of The FA
Handbook"

This was the Leeds process recently

We will never improve the abysmal standard of refereeing if their awful mistakes are supported by an appeals commission. As a result Saturday’s referee will continue to spoil games. Surely the way forward is to point out to referees their mistakes and expect them to learn from them. I still believe Saturdays sending off was extremely harsh and I believe the referee was going to give a yellow card until the very poor assistant got in his ear.

I don't think it was 'extremely harsh' and I can understand why it was given. If you watch it again, a split second before contact is made, both feet are off the ground, therefore, arguably, the tackle was 'out of control'.

It may have been borderline yellow or red, but even after watching it back a few times, I understand the reason it was given. I really didn't expect the appeals panel to overturn it. I do agree that the Stanley players all had an impact upon the decision though. Refs need to start throwing yellow cards at players for acting in that manner.

So how did that work out then?

The surrounding the ref thing is out of hand again.
And we are as guilty.
For me, it’s should be like both Rugby codes and only the captain can talk or even chat to the ref, anyone else opens their mouth, yellow card. Two offences, send them off.
They would soon stop it. But managers encourage it to try intimidate the ref and his assistants.

In rugby super league the players are not even allowed to approach the official about dicipline unless called upon by the ref. It's more often than not 10 mins in the sin bin if they do, and I totally agree with it.
