Travelling by rail to get to the MK Dons game yesterday was a mare.
No trains from the south got past Preston, in fact a lot of folk on trains didn't even know they were going to have to leave their train until it arrived at Preston.
I was only travelling from Southport.....by bus to Preston, then train to Morecambe. I normally leave v.early so I can have a pint or three pre-match, but we lost our electricity late on Friday night, and it wasn't restored until 0900ish yesterday morning. So, having checked the train situation was ok online I didn't leave home until 1130.
I got the bus to Preston arriving at 1215. When I walked into Preston train station it was chaos, with a lot of bad tempers. I quickly realised that getting to Morecambe by train wasn't going to happen.
A bloke in Shrimps colours, with a southern accent collared me. He said he'd travelled from Chelmsford, this being his first ever home game, and he was almost in tears! I thought right, let's leg it to Preston bus station, and we might be lucky.
10 minutes frog march later we got to the bus station with 5 minutes to spare to catch the 1235 No.41 Staecoach bus to Morecambe.
There were several like minded MK Dons fans on that bus too.
To cut a long story short, we arrived at The Mazuma at 1445. My thoughts were, I wonder what the return journey home's going to be like!
