Going forward.

I don't think it's helping that Cole is now nearly always brought back to help defend corners and free kicks. He used to stand in the centre circle keeping 2 of their defenders away. Presumably it's to beef up our dodgy defence, but it's not helping as we can't break - if we get possession, we nearly always just hoof it up to no-one and it comes straight back to us.

We desperately need at least one new tall/strong defender in January to strengthen our back line and let Cole get back to worrying the opposition defence in the middle.

Trouble is, he's repeatedly been the one making the clearing headers, so he does the job there too! The problems are all stemming from the defence not being good enough.

Any Premier League teams got decent young defenders in their reserves that need blooding in League One???

So how did that work out then?

I think it is likely that a club will make an offer in the January "window" for Cole that as the Godfather said we can't refuse.

The club has to think what happens if Cole is injured after the window shuts. Suddenly your asset becomes written down to zero.

We have to hope that our new man Martin Foyle knows of a couple of decent strikers , a decent league 1 keeper , a big dirty central defender and a speedy winger (I hoped we would sign Archibald ex Macclesfield but he went to Torquay !) Then there is the problem of moving on anybody deemed surplus to requirements. Also how many of our loanees will be left with us or recalled !

I remember watching the SPL a few seasons and with the exception of the big two the other teams had players that had played against us in L2, so there may not be a lot of difference between L2 and SPL
which is where the problem is
SR recruiting for L1 but getting players that are only L2 standard at best

Certainly mostof the players recruited in the summer are at best League 2 players. Lack of League 1 experience creates difficulties for the manager, He is under great pressure to get players recruited in the transfer window at League 1 level. If he doesn't we are in trouble.
