Agree with pretty much everything you say Stuart. After a slow start I thought we played OK first half going forward. The one problem identified was Alfie's passing was shocking and had to be replaced. We put far too much emphasis on him as playmaker, but when Aaron came on the whole midfield pushed up as a unit and Toums and McLoughlin got involved much more upfield, which really benefited us.

Jonah Ayunga off the ball was much more energetic and committed, and agree he was a key part of the press in both halves. However, he still needs to improve on the ball. His first and second touches yesterday were heavy and saw him lose the ball a lot. He also still tries to beat players when there's often an easy option. The whole team needs to be taught the benefit of a 1-2.

24 shots to their 8 yesterday and 8 to 4 on target, and the vast majority of the possession. We were the better team and a decent centre half, goalkeeper, holding midfielder and winger, and we'll push on from this. There's a lot of struggling teams at the moment - Donny, Crewe, Gillingham, Lincoln, Bolton, Cheltenham and Cambridge - all of which have picked up 6 points or less in their last six matches. It is in our hands and if we bolster the team effectively, stick with a mix of experience and those younger players who put in a shift (rather than take gambles on players who don't) then we've got a very good chance of staying up.

AND MY GOD WHAT A RESPONSE

Not just a win but the gap is now 7 points between us and Doncaster

We may be 7 points away from Doncaster, but we are only 1 point away from the bottom 4, and with 4 to go down we are still in danger. I still have faith in us staying up, and I believe we will if we play like yesterdays second half. Play like the first half and we are doomed.

Plus, both Fleetwood & Gillingham remain under transfer embargoes, so can't bolster their squads during the transfer window.

So how did that work out then?

I saw that Fleetwood were under a transfer embargo until April 2022, but have seemingly made an 'undisclosed' signing two days into the transfer window.

With regards to the Fleetwood signing, I think if you are offering a player his first professional contact the singing is allowed - the rule was I am sure was brought in so as it didn’t preclude clubs being able to sign players on pro contracts from their in house academy - not sure it was designed to pay a transfer fee for non contact players from other clubs. Still I have never been one to believe that it was wrong to find a way round the rules(legally) if it was to your clubs benefit!!

Fleetwood have signed a non league winger until the end of the season.
