Poor Substitution

Poor Substitution

IMO - taking off Phillips who was having a good game, left us light in attacking midfield and more defence minded, and allowed them to press forward for the equaliser even with 10 men

In too many games now we have played well but not secured the points our play deserves. We don’t look a relegation team but we are still in the relegation zone. The manager and his staff need to try and unpick what is the problem. Do some players shine at League 1 level while for others it’s a step too far. Ayunga has blossomed and looks League 1 quality. Gnouia imo doesn’t look good enough for League 1. I think it was a mistake taking a rampant Phillips off and leaving Arthur on and allowing pressure to build on our defence. I hope the management team review their decisions and try to secure the victories our general play deserves.

It was the right call at the time. We didn’t draw (although it feels like a loss) because of Robbos subs, it was due to the actions of supporters behind the dugouts that ultimately resulted in the game being delayed. During that delay the heavens opened, and made a difficult pitch to play football on nearly impossible - conditions which had a direct impact on the equaliser, in addition to poor game management form McLoughlin. Had they game been allowed to play out to its natural conclusion, there is no doubt in my mind that we would have retained the ball, played out time, and possibly even scored a couple more goals - the Trotters were gassed, having been dominated for the entirety of the second half.

The arrogance of some people on here is amazing. Robbo deserves nothing but praise for that performance - we dominated Bolton Wanderers at home, and were cruising towards a famous win, yet still people look to critique his decisions. Baffling!

Plus, Evatt said he 'used those ten minutes to regroup'. His players, who were knackered and cold, were rested and able to come out with a new-found fire. I agree that had the delay not occurred, I think we'd have won easily, given how on top we were and how exhausted they were, with ten men chasing shadows.

So how did that work out then?

'Alleged' actions of an individual or individuals behind the Bolton dug out are in the opinion of some the reason for our team not winning the game.

Unless you where actually sat in that particular section and heard the offence then I find it difficult to understand how some can pass judgement on the incident.

Unless others and in particular members of the media who are close that area actually heard what was said then to pass judgment by those nowhere near the incident is wrong.

With regards to Arthur. I thought that he had one of his better games against his former employers but others think otherwise.....which they are more than entitled to do so.

The reason why we didn’t win this game is absolutely the result of the game being delayed wouldn’t you say? It altered the conditions of the match… even the pitch, and enabled a depleted opposition to regroup and recover. The game being delayed was completely and utterly outside of Stephen Robinson’s control. To then pick holes in his tactics is completely perverse, bordering on moronic. I am unsurprised.

Completely ignoring the allegation of racial language, the initial delay was caused by confrontation between the opposition and people directly behind the dugout. The pictures and videos circulating of Morecambe supporters shouting at and gesturing towards the opposition and a lack of stewarding/control is an absolute embarrassment to the club. In one video Stephen Robinson himself is seen pleading with supporters to ‘bugger’ off. Had they done so we would have won this game with ease. I don’t actually care if there has been skullduggery by the Bolton manager in provoking individuals. Supporters should not be in that situation, and it is not the first time there have been incidents like this - it’s not even the first time this season! You have played right into his hands. Congratulations. All the events that happened subsequent to this result from that incident, even the alleged racist remark - which was completely separate to the ejection of supporters.

C Prem should be closed, and stewarding in that area increased - immediately.
