AFC Fylde Stadium

AFC Fylde Stadium

Went with my son in law to watch his team Scarbro play AFC Fylde at the AFC Stadium yesterday.

Not a bad game that Scarboro won 0-2 but the thing that impressed me most was the stadium especially the post match main bar complete with table waiter service and an excellent restaurant.

Goes to show what can be done developing a Stadium and its surrounds with a blank cheque.

AFC's owner is a highly successful businessman who has companies involved in numerous animal associated industries and is a self made multi millionaire who at one time wanted to own Blackpool FC hence his companies are grouped under the name of Tangerine.

Unfortunately his team have a small fan base with yesterdays total gate of circa 960 swelled by over 300 Scarboro fans. He has ambitions of one day leading his club into the EFL but on yesterdays performance he may have a long time to wait. Without doubt his Stadium is well equipped for EFL2 especially as they have a training ground as part of the complex that includes Burger King, Aldi and a few more thriving businesses.

Such a shame that we couldn't attract some companies like Burger King and Aldi to our complex at its construction stage as this would have brought in extra revenue on a regular basis.

Aye, in the mid 2010’s there were signs up at their old ground saying “2022 - stop us if you can” referring to their target date for being in the EFL and club merch all had 2022 on it.

Dog food Dave is a throughly unpleasant bloke so to see him come up short is satisfying.

But yes, the bar is nice.

Unfortunately had some business dealings with him many years ago before my early retirement. Let's just say that he found ways to not pay his dues in full by dragging payment dates to the extreme. :x :x :x

:D :D :D

One of the better clients to deal with in my area of business in the late 90's early 20's was without doubt PMcG....despite what others may have reservations about.

He and his son handled the Golf Ping contract as well at the time Reebok and Umbro and in all honesty I found PMcG somewhat demanding of his suppliers (including ourselves) but never any question about payment on time.

As for the worst....without doubt it was numerous clients in the financial sector with M&S Banking the most difficult. Often had to travel to Chester and back up to 3 times a day from our base in Kendal. Fortunately the M6 wasn't as bad as it is today in the late 90's and early 20's.
