O/T Recording timed TV programes?

O/T Recording timed TV programes?

Postby redrobo » Sat Sep 16, 2023 5:24 pm

HELP....

I'm getting rid of BT TV and its recording facility to reduce my Broadband monthly bill as well as getting rid of BT Broadband which is simply too expensive against the opposition.

However I still want to record pre timed programmes and am thinking about buying a Humax or equivalent recording device.

Any suggestions as an alternative recording device would be most welcome.

It has to be idiot proof and simple to operate....

Thanks.....

You should be able to attach an external hard drive to your smart TV. I presume your TV has a USB slot?

Something like this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/External-Drive ... Q3XW/?th=1
“Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice - stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband: ".

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?

Neil, we're on our second Humax box. Can record 4 programmes simultaneously, and they sell refurbished ones on their own website. Definitely recommended.

After trying to renegotiate my BT contract yesterday and got a very poor response ( even to the point of them not caring if I moved to a new supplier or not ) I'm now looking at my options for Broadband and TV etc and a Humax box certainly looks an attractive option with regards to TV recording. Will have look and see what is available.

Cheers Phil.....

Can you get B4RN? We're on it now and we're only round the corner from you. We sacked BT years ago over their customer disservice. The Humax box will connect to the Internet and give you iplayer, all4, YouTube etc. Ours is too old to do itvx, but hey ho.
