Stanley to league 1

Stanley to league 1

Postby Kendalshrimp » Sat Apr 30, 2016 4:08 pm

Looks as tho Stanley will be playing in league 1 next season now all they need to do is beat Stevenage next week at home, a game they'll be massive favourites in.

Sick of hearing all this Rubbish about our budget being too low to compete. At the start of the season they had a smaller budget than us. Good luck in league 1 mr Coleman

And at the end of it, a much bigger one. But you are right, we should be above Accrington, why aren't we champions?

John Coleman should get League 2 manager of the year award but I bet he doesn't. Probably go to Chris Wilder with all that nearly-going-to-the-wall crap. They have always had good players there just that they weren't getting paid all the time. Wth that squad they should be near the top

no no no Keith, stop it! very very marginal.

they signed players in the same window like us, and haven't paid any transfer fee's like us, just a few players on loan halfway through.

and if you still want to make excuses, Jims budget in his first season or two was bigger than Stanley's this season if we are going to split hairs.

this cash injection as gone on the ground and facilities.

They've performed brilliantly, we've under performed, definitely. But it is crazy to say that budgets have nothing to do with it. Portsmouth, Plymouth, Notts County... etc, etc, etc are all huge clubs who are massively bigger than Accrington but not above them.

I was under the impression that they paid out for the loan signings (five?) where as we've not got a pot to piss in, let pay to bring in half a team.

we could have brought in players on loan if we'd shown some pride in that costly FA cup disgrace, what effectively ended the season before we was halfway through the season.

Lets not forget that Accy made the playoffs a few seasons ago on a budget that would have been less than ours and I certainly don't think they will have spent much more than us this season so they have done incredibly well, it just goes to show that it can be done and it certainly isn't all about the budget.

Accy paid the wages of their loan players, therefore their budget increased.
We however, paid no part of the wages of any loanee.
So their budget is now way above ours!

Even so they still did well under John Coleman well before they came into money. This extra revenue has made the difference this season to get into the top 3. Wycombe may have better attendances than us but for the last two seasons they have managed to make the play offs with a small squad of players. Ainsworth manages to get the best out of them the same way John Coleman has season after season.

Well done to Accrington and Burton who have proved you can do it.

Lets not split hairs over a slight budget difference one way or the other, it'd be as bad as blaming our entire season on ''bad luck'', lets wish them well, and try not to appear too jealous eh?

I'm not saying I'm not jealous because I am massively ! They've probably got 2 better players than all ours in Windass and crooks who are moving on after next week but other than that the rest of there squad is no better than ours. Hughes scored the goal for them today too who'd of thought getting released 12 months ago he'd be on the verge of promotion to league 1.

Got to hand it to John Coleman and Jimmy Bell, good as it gets in my book and you can bet your bottom dollar that every Stanley player will be going through brick walls for that all important win next weekend
Like Leicester it just shows that a great team spirit instilled by no nonsense management can overcome the Big spenders and WIN
Brilliant season for the small fish in the Big pond

don't think anybody is jealous :?

people are sick of the excuses, the Budget argument goes right out the window now.

along with the small squad and need to rest players, thanks to Leicester just about playing the same team all season long flat out + international call ups.

2 other small clubs Stevenage and Dagenham were in League 1 too. Wonder how they are doing now.

Well done Stanley. Amazing achievement by Coley. Would love him to manage us some day.

Shows what can be done at a small club with everyone pulling in the right direction.

Yes, you are right, I've had a chance to think about your succinct argument. It's just eleven blokes. Budget has nothing to do with it. We should be competing equally with Manchester City because it has nothing at all to do with money. Budget argument goes right out of the window now.

OK.One last time. It is true that money doesn't always build a top team in whatever league. Even if we had a few million to spend it wouldn't guarantee success. We would need a top class manager as well. Accrington have got a top class manager at this level and have had money from halfway through the season. We don't have a top class manager in Jim and we've no money. Hence Jim has been unable, on numerous occasions, to get the players that he really wants.

Exeter have (as I understand it) one of the highest paid managers in League 2 yet I still can''t see they are much better than us, certainly didn't make the play offs and many of their fans have been calling for Tisdale's head for years. They, again, are a club that have had (and probably still have) financial problems. If enough money comes into the club (IF it does) it still won't make Jim a top class manager but it will enable us to see what he can do if he can bring the players he wants into the team AND get a decent sized squad.
