Only time will tell, however it is hard to imagine PMG would not have conducted his own investigations into anyone who he was prepared to sell a controlling interest in the club to, I would imagine it to be a bit more in depth than doing a google search.

I completely agree and I've said exactly that elsewhere on here that PMG will have done full due diligence and would never sell us short. However when someone raises a legitimate point and someone says 'bullshit', I think they need to explain why that's the case.

I don't think "bullshit" was the correct word to use.

I am pretty sure that 3 experienced businessmen like PMG , Nigel and Mike Hinchcliffe will have done all the necessary due diligence to ensure that any potential club purchaser has the means to not only buy the club but undertake the infrastructure investment that it needs such as the office block , hotel and dormitory , cover to Omega rear etc etc Just the same as any potential club purchaser will have done due diligence on the club's financial affairs to make sure everything is transparent.

They seem to think that the EFL will have considered the fit and proper aspect within a week so hopefully things will be much clearer in a few days.

cant see what the fuss us about, if he's got the money in the first place to buy 80% of us, he must have more money than sense

seriously where over due some good luck. 8-)

it's great publicity it's got the town talking and taking notice, plus if we can stay at the top end of the table, battling to get into L1 , crowd numbers should increase. :)

Sorry to piss on everyone's chips. I am as excited as anyone on here about a new owner, just felt it was worth adding some balance based on the opinion of someone who knows a bit about Brazilian culture, football and business. He's not a well known name back in his native country and my mate struggled to see the appeal in taking over a very small and struggling L2 side. Also, the way agents and businessman in general operate out there is very different. We are all putting a lot of trust in PMG with this deal, lets hope he has got it right. Whether he stays on or not, with 80% of the shares it would be very difficult to change things if we end up in a direction we don't like.

I was able to have a half time chat with Peter McG yesterday who is confident that the takeover will be approved by the EFL but warned that any expectations of massive investment overnight was not going to happen as the new owner(s) are in it for the long haul and will invest over a period of time after taking stock of what they along with the present Board feel is in the best interest of the club and the town.

Peter confirmed that he will not be walking away as he's put too much time and money into the club not to oversee the new investment delivered in line with his and the new owner(s) vision.

Personally I'm delighted that Peter will still have a major role to play in our club over the short to medium term. Long may he continue.

Well considering the impact of other foreign owners such as Cellino,Bechetti and the Charlton owner and also home grown owners can be hazardous such as the oyston clan im glad that Peter is staying on in some sort of capasity as well not throwing tons and tons on cash at it is good for the long term viability of our beloved club I'm optimistic at the future

The BBC have called and said, "that's all well and good, but what is Portuguese for The Shrimpers?"
“Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice - stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband: ".

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?

Its actually a month more or less, if you go off his own personal announcement to fans afer the Blackpool game, I am told there was going to be news on thursday or friday, but I have stopped holding my breath, its getting boring now, like the 'shanghai'' bollocks.

Possibly.

Also we are waiting on an EFL committee to make a decision and they aren't noted for being very efficient :o :o

When we were taken over a few years ago the F&PPT took a few months and that was for a relatively straightforward case too. Nothing to worry about, I'm sure.

Were fans patient at the time, or were they updated a little bit on what might or might not be happening.
All we get on 1st September is Brazilian bought majority shareholding subject to EFL

There was a little uneasiness but he did a few public events and we signed players/things started happening at the ground etc so there were tangible signs of progress. Also, he was from the town originally with family still in the area so it's not like he was a complete unknown that nobody could find any information on.

Edit - just looked it up: the members approved the sale of the club on May 1st 2014, it was ratified by the FA on September 3rd.
