As to going to the authorities(the FA in this instance) would be futile as nobody would no where to start and they would all deny any prior involvement. I suppose the two of you expect any cash payments you’ve made to contractors will be fully accounted for in regards of vat!

According to the rules, Stockton can't talk to anyone until a fee is agreed between the clubs. If he's told our board, as was said in the article, that Fleetwood have offered him a substantial pay rise, then that would confirm that the rules had been broken, either by the player, Fleetwood or his agent, or all three.

I have no doubt, some contractors don't pay all the VAT that is due.
I have no doubt, that if there is evidence of tax evasion, the contractors will be in deep poo!

Good to see Cole at the game last night. Not sure if he was in the Directors Box or with a sponsor.... :?: :?: :?: but just in front of me going down the stairs in the main stadium.

Only Port Vale still want Cole?

Postby redrobo » Wed Aug 31, 2022 12:32 pm

This article implies that both Fleetwood and Shrewsbury have dropped out of the race for Cole.

Port Vale are reported to have offered £150,000 which is an insult to Cole in my opinion.

£350,000 would be nearer the mark for me... :?

Agreed. Surely we won't let him go for that price (if accurate).

He was in an empty box with the other injured players, i.e. Duffus, Hunter, etc.

Whilst people will have differing views of the value of players, but as in relation to many other things, something is only worth what people will pay, so if the bidding doesn’t reach the heights that people are suggesting, in effect it means the player isn’t worth it to the prospective buyer.
If a player doesn’t leave, when he desperately wants to, it can have a negative effect, with his performance dropping and his demeanour round the changing room, not suggesting our players would do this, but it’s not uncommon. A further downside is that he will be being paid his wage, with little or no return, both in monetary terms and also in terms of productivity, just a thought! How many times in our working careers have we been dissatisfied with management and maybe not given our full 100% for a time?

Was just thinking it’s been a while since we had a new Stockton thread

If somebody offered even say £300k then accepting could be pragmatic, taking into account that Cole doesn’t want to be here, but £150k is a joke. If that’s all that’s being offered then I’m sorry but Cole will have to stay and see out his contract.

Let's not beat about the bush in the last two seasons Cole has been absolutely brilliant for Morecambe Football Club. Last season in particular he was superb. How many of us would like to do a job which involves being routinely roughed up by two six foot plus hairy arsed central defenders. He not only did that but produced the skill required to score goals week in week out. A large part of this time he did this for Derek so I don't think he has an issue with our current management. I think a lot of it comes down to agents getting in their clients ear and convincing them the grass is greener elsewhere and demanding they move on. The agent will of course be handsomely compensated for his time if it comes off.

The few times I have seen Cole play this season you can tell his heart isn't at MFC anymore. After a tussle with an opposite number this season his usual reaction has been to stand there with his arms out in appeal to presumably the officials. In the last two seasons he just got straight back into the fray and in response dished some out of his own.

Times going on now and the window will soon close. It's beginning to look like he will be here till January at least. If that be the case let's hope he buckles down and puts a proper shift in because if he doesn't give 100% he's doing no one any favours and that includes himself.

Sometimes, the towel is all I have left, as the will to live went ages ago!

Neil, why do we need a new thread every time a new rumour comes up? This is at least the sixth one, most, if not all, started by you!

Please, stick to the one thread. When does the transfer window shut? I don't care if he goes or stays anymore, I just want all these new threads to stop!!!

Fleetwood just signed a forward from Luton on loan. So Cole is definitely not going there.

The more this drags the more I think Cole will be a shrimp a while longer yet. Surely some of you nosey parkers have some info? Or would Redrobo have started a new thread for it?

Alan Nixon having a go at the club on twitter

Saying we have stopped Cole making money out of football

As I see it he signed a contract no club came in with good enough bid so the club not selling simple as

Hopefully Cole doesn't throw his dummy out and buckles down and scores a few goals
