NHS & Elderly vs China & India

Okay, but make it fair:

NHS & Elderly vs China & India
NHS & Elderly vs Rich Tax Avoiders
China & India vs Rich Tax Avoiders?

My bet is rich tax avoiders would cop it first in most cases. We need Human Rights legislation because some people would choose to protect the rich at all costs, including by dumping on our human rights. Funnily enough, the people who would crap on our human rights are the same people who'd choose to protect the wealthy & corporations ahead of poor people in other countries. Just the way some people think.

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?

This is why people don't post on Shrimpsvoices any longer (something I believe has a direct negative influence on the club). Keith raised a perfectly good questions about the removal of the decontamination unit at Morecambe fire station. Instead of answering it directly the thread is taken over by the same two people, as ever, for their narrow xenophobic purposes. Immediately some biased and ripped out of context article from the right wing press is used as some means of effectively saying 'how dare you possibly argue with this you rapist apologist?' or 'how dare you ruin the lives of some murdered backpacker's family?'. And immediately it alienates people, bores them or gives them the desire for a futile rant. Whatever, it means that Morecambe fans wanting to talk about football don't come on here anymore.

Then create a sub-forum for Off Topic [O/T] subjects! People who only want to talk football are then protected from the O/T stuff. It might have been tried before on SV, but that doesn't mean it can't be tried again. Other football forums manage more than one forum successfully.

Meanwhile, while O/T subjects have to be posted on the Main Board, you are going to get different opinions. I think these opinions are what discussions are all about.

Doesn't O/T imply that the subject in not Morecambe FC related? And generally the subject title also indicates when it's not of a general football nature, eg 'Specialist Decontamination Unit scrapped'. So it doesn't need a degree in Rocket Science to avoid practically all non-football related threads.

A lot of stuff is polarised, and tbh does it matter how few or how many people join in the discussion with their opposite or different opinions, so long as it's discussed in a friendly manner.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's not just the people who you are labelling as xenophobic and narrow minded who find it easy to completely change a subject to meet their own way of thinking, be it Left Wing, Human Rights, Political Correctness, or simply Wind-Up Merchants [as four examples].

It's when people start spitting their dummies, name calling, or demanding that their version of the truth or facts are indesputable, that it all becomes a bit silly.

semi agree posh, although the subject is off toplc, but as for coming on here , I think its more a case of 2 things,1.being more internet choice like facebook, and 2. more importantly ,a huge drop in interest and support for the club , for whatever reason, the posts still get plenty of views even though there are less comments, the board was very argumentative ,but very popular, when the team was doing well, there is a definate, marked ,downward trend in support for the club that needs addressing properly.

Agree with Mr P. But I suspect that anyone with an eye for number crunching would be aware of that anyway.

it goes without saying, decontamination units are a worry, for obvious reasons.

this thread went pear shaped with a counter argument as where can we find money to still fund decontamination units.

it's the name calling and people getting personal what's off putting alienating people, I like to think most adults respect other people have different opinions on politics, and them what don't respect that on SVs, I am guilty of baiting them for being committed to misunderstanding people.

SVs would not be allowed on Question time, they have a balanced audience of ordinary people from all parties left and right wing, SVs is very left.

Haha, very left, really?
The people slightly to the left seem to be socially conscious humanitarians on this forum, the fascists on this forum would give Pinochet a run for his money!

A successful club needs people engaging with it. Compared to other clubs our forum is tiny, our club's Facebook and Twitter has very limited content and the club make little use of digital to communicate. It would at least generate interest if the club actually communicated with fans.
