Morecambe 1 [Murphy] Cheltenham 2 PLAYER THREAD

They dive in the area should be a free kick to us instead they play on and score. The scorer then gesticulates to our fans and the ref ignores it!

Sounds like a brave performance against a team who could only beat us because we were down to 91/2 men, and playing against 3 rubbish officials. We just don't seem to get any luck. Hope the lads get some inspiration from this performance.

Red card changed the game. First half they didn't even have a shot and we stayed in first gear. Second half they were always going to batter us. Can't wait to see replay of what Kenyon supposedly did.

4 more injuries is worrying!

Murphy in hospital.

Derek Quinn: "Michael Salsbury produced the worst display of refereeing seen here in many a year"

Good job we've got eight days before our next game, we wouldn't be able to put out a team if we were playing on Tuesday.

ref was shocking. felt sorry for masanka, playing upfront when your down to ten is a thankless task and all he got was Barry's big kicks..... when they scored they could see a win as they ran back to the centre with the ball

Worried as well as we only had five subs and another three got injured and Kenyon will be suspended unless they appeal

It will be interesting to see the sending off on SSN tonight. Lots of criticism of the officials who had a poor game, but did they get the big decision correct?

Well it wasn't a boring match at least? :?

A real shame to come away with no points against a really poor Cheltenham team who on another day were there for the taking.

Alex was very unlucky to get sent off. As Jim says, it's only a natural reaction to kick out if you're on the ground and someone is standing on your head... The ref should at least have sent their player off too if he was going to give Alex a red card.

The injuries and missing players were the killer I feel though. With minutes ago we should have been pushing them for an equaliser but I felt we just didn't have the attacking players on the pitch to trouble them.

Farny won't be finishing early for Christmas.

Kenyon was stamped on after being fouled. I saw it clear as day right in front of me. How the fourth official missed that I will never know. Apparently Kenyon kicked following this challenge... I didn't see this but suspected something might have happened when Kenyon stayed down holding his face... as though he knew he might be in trouble.

Robbed. 1-0 up and controlling the game I thought this could be another good home win. But the ref must have had an away win on his coupon and took matters into his own hands.

Firstly, the players showed great desire and effort to stay in the game and they deserved 3 points. They should walk off the pitch proud with their performance. There have been games this season where players commitment and desire have been questioned, but not today.

The ref changed the game. I've seen some awful referees down the years but I can't recall a game where the referee has completely swung a game not from one bad decision but several! If there's any means of the club launching any sort of appeal or complaint they should.

Where do I start? The 'clotheslines' style foul that wouldn't look out of place in a wrestling ring, the bizarre Kenyon decision, the foul on McGowan in the second half or the extremely dangerous and reckless decision regarding Murphy?

Murphy took an elbow to the face and the ref allowed play to continue despite the rules saying play should be stopped immediately. I believe Murphy is/was in hospital with a cut eye.

Disgraceful referee who robbed us of a valuable 3 points.

Jimbo sounded dejected on the radio describing this period as the worst he's ever been through.

Sometimes its out of your control and that was certainly the situation today three injuries plus mullin who had to play on with his foot strapped up, then we come to the referee, first of all the sending off, from our position in the Omega stand it appeared to be ridiculous and judging by the reaction by Jim and everyone closer to the incident that would appear to be the case, several other incidents come to mind Mullin flicks the ball to the side and is taken out no booking, Fleming pushes the ball past their player who sticks his arm out Fleming goes down no free kick let alone a booking, at least two of their players dived in our box ref waves play on no booking, very very poor.

Its not often I would single out a player for criticism but Molyneux should go at the end of the season he has had more than enough chances but today was the final straw for me.

Just seen the sending off. A little kick out from Kenyon after there number 4 played the ball after the whistle had gone. Presenter on SSN who is viewing these highlights for the first time said 'didn't really see it'. No need for a red card, Kenyon gets fouled then gets tackled after the whistle had gone yet gets sent off for a minor kick. Common sense required from the ref.

Good effort today. Deserved at least a point. Hopefully we can pick up at least a couple of points between now and the next home game. We are in a dog fight for survival now though for sure.

Aaron Downes who legged Mullers in the first half when he would have been free with a run on goal was the same one who wrapped his arms round Massanka in a similar situation in the second. But that, evidently, doesn't merit a booking in Mr Salisbury's mind. Alex was clattered, then trampled on, head and legs by Pell, lifted his leg to get him off him...red card.
No wonder Jim despairs.
Players battled well today and there were some great performances. Heads up, lads!

A spirited performance today in a game spoilt by an abysmal referee. The Football League has to take action against officials like this. Football is the loser when the refereeing is this bad.

One of the worst displays by a Morecambe centre forward I have ever seen.

We sent Jack Dunn back and this player should also go as he is just not League 2 standard. Stockton would have made the grey haired centre back look the donkey he was but Msanka was just pushed off it time and again.

Out of all the loanees the one we have to keep is Stockton.

Some clear up points.
Pell fouled Kenyon, then Storer stamped on him. Should have been red, never mind yellow.
Stored it was who flat armed Murphy, Murphy won the ball, clear foul, perhaps accidental, but free kick and yellow for me.
Downes twice manhandled forwards escaping him, if a forward does that to a centre back its a foul all day. Nothing.
Dickie obstructs Fleming after he mugs him, it was obstruction at least, but use of arm makes it dangerous play, nothing given, play on.
Pell dives in late on McGowan, a very routine yellow, see three a game normally! Eventually talked to him but no card.
Michael Salisbury is the refs name, what an areshole!!

As for his invisible liners, who despite being stood next to Jim when Alex got stamped on said he didn't see it????? Did he leave with a guide dog?
This was before he gave a Massanka offside when Moly passed to Flemmo, who then trapped it turned, passes it to a two yard onside Massanka, he puts his flag up?? What a dildo!

Otherwise our nine fit men and Mullers put a fab shift in, great passion and heart from all. If we didn't have bad luck we'd have no luck at all!!!

Lancaster top of their league, it's looking more likely they could actually be in League above us next season if we have to reform down there...
