I think the same, though I would remove Premier League sides from the league cup as all they do is moan about it, might help the FA Cup get some magic back also. EFL Trophy needs to go though either way. Also stop all the stupid rules around how many 1st teamers etc, if clubs want to blood their youth they should just be able to crack on with it without stupid fines

EFL Trophy is the only realistic chance of League One & Two sides playing at Wembley in a cup game.

I think the very simple fix would be to play at least the first two games in the last week of pre-season then (if sticking to the mini-league format) the next match within a few weeks of the start of season. That way, all games are played in good weather (well, light evenings anyway!) and more interest from fans too. Then start the knock out phase a month or so later. Then hold the semi-final at the end of March/beginning of April, ready for a Wembley visit in May.
