The clubs tweet regarding karius

The guy is a footy player, has lovely hair, probably got a super model Girlfriend, has a holiday in his posh villa to look forward to, probably drives a Supercar and will earn more in a year than we will see in a lifetime. I am sure that one tweet from someones front room in Morecambe will not be the end of him.

The tweet itself was quite funny, probably not as hurtful as some Liverpool fans thought and said at the time including those of the players and manager, but the fact it was posted on our clubs Official Tweet page is the of major concern especially as its access I assume is restricted. The club need to find out who posted it and do whatever is necessary to apologise and take the appropriate action against the person concerned.

I don’t think that’s got anything to do with it.

Let’s say Baz let in two howlers like Karius did and another team in League 2 posted what we did, how would you feel then? Would you think it was a funny thing to do?

You’re doing a good job of defending a very pisspoor and unnecessary joke that got stick not just from Liverpool fans and media but also the BBC and football fans of all types condemning it. There’s a post liked and shared over 10,000 times comparing Napoli’s response to ours.

Have the club got a social media policy? Is there a regular procedure for updating passwords or putting in place two-step authentication?

I think Matt does a great job but he needs some leadership from the top to support his work.

Whatever people think the posting of this and the subsequent deletion makes us look absolutely tinpot.

Have Liverpool still got Danny Ward? Doesn't seem to figure these days.

No such thing as bad publicity?
I am not really trying to defend the joke because that is all I see it as, a joke. Is it not funny because we are tinpot? I think we have a lot of Liverp**l fans on here which has inflamed our self loathing.

EDIT....

Were you not involved with a fanzine that took the mick out of other clubs and their fans Posh?

Ennnnhhhhhh.... I see where everyone is coming from, but I don't think it was quite that bad. It's getting blown out of proportion.
@ShrimpsOfCanada for my Morecambe centric comments.
@DrRetro for Toronto FC, CanPL, and general Canadian commentary and profanity about the same.

I see it like you it was a joke, unfortunately it’s created bad publicity for our club. Some of the tweets regarding our club are disgusting and are far far worse than the original tweet.
In this day and age there is such thing as bad publicity.
I just hope our dual supporting fans don’t stop coming to Morecambe

Totally agree, the responses are far far worse than the intentions of the original tweet. It says far more about them than it does us. The modern day arm chair tweeting football fans are horrible creatures.

I’ve been involved in lots of fanzines. Show me an article I’ve written or anyone else where I’ve / we’ve kicked a man when he’s down.

It’s like taking a gun to a knife fight when you do it through official channels.

The main concern isn't Wether or not it's funny or offensive...it's the fact that our official voice on Twitter can be used in this manner...and no one seems to know who does it .....I really hope it was the former chairman

Yeah I get that. I often wonder who is tweeting on behalf of the club and what control there is over it.

Accrington used to put out some very funny tweets on deadline day etc.

I am being a bit naughty really, I enjoy baiting Liverpool fans but never knew there were so many on here.

If someone isn't fired out of a cannon into the bay over this I will burn all my Morecambe shirts. I will truly miss them as they are real works of art.

Hah hah! Your take on this is funny. In fact nearly as funny as the original tweet. Good to see humour is not quite dead after all

Whilst the post itself isn’t the worst about the guy, the fact it comes from an official source, makes it pretty poor. We can’t seem to do anything right at the moment.

As for any ideas of sacking anyone...that just ridiculous. educating the culprit is better and the official feed should also offer an apology.

We wouldn’t like anyone to joke about our blight. It’s nothing to do with how much money someone earns it’s about humanity, the guy was distraught and we thought it was better to kick him than help him....which privately might be fine, but to do it out loud to the world wasn’t a good move.
