Be nice if we can get another goal, and at least win the 2nd half.

Carlisle who are up next on NYD are 5-0 up

Thommo on for eight minutes. Leitch-Smith off.

I just don't understand Jim at times. Why change a winning team up front but still retains Oliver whilst on Saturday the new combo of Oliver and Oswell worked well... :?: :?: :?:

Jim you are so frustrating at time. Concentrating on the opposition rather than on what we can do. Baffling to say the least.....

John Sheridan against his former Club eh?

Looks like the Carlisle players are playing for their Manager, knowing what this game means to him,

Tactically outplayed today in my opinion, we got it wrong and they got it right. We were far better second half, Oates and Mandeville create space, but I felt it was only because Tranmere sat back and asked for it. In the end, few clear chances created - just a wonder goal.

I felt we had a number of individual poor performances as well, Mills didn't look match fit and most of the attacking players couldn't keep hold of the ball even when Tranmere were letting us have it.

Cranston was one of my least-favourite players at the start of the season but he's the only player who consistently puts in good performances right now, once again I thought he was fantastic. Look forward to Conlan being back so he can play in midfield again, as he's good going forward and seemed the only player capable of picking a forward pass out today.

Not playing like that we won't. One moment of magic from Cranston. Otherwise toothless & clueless. Poor defending. No creativity. After Saturday, I thought we'd turned a corner and were going to be looking up the table. After that, I'm trying to work out if there are two worse teams than us? Macclesfield are resurgent. Can we rely on a big club like Notts County to keep failing for the rest of the season? Cambridge won. Yeovil?

Got to assume Oswell has picked up an injury? He's been excellent in the last couple of games, so crazy not to play him if fit.

Certainly helps when your opposition have over indulged and can't be arsed, carlisle will still be in this league next season and today won't change that.

Maybe one of our reporters could ask Jim this?

I suspect it was tactical as Oswell was named on the bench, and if i remember right Smithy played well against them earlier on this season.

We do not have Carlisle next.

Macclesfield, Cheltenham, Grimsby all won again.

Ah! but Notts County and Yeovil lost, as did Colchester who we actually play next, so it's not all doom yet!

If we are talking about players having a bad game I thought Stephen Old had a 90 minute nightmare.

Old has been off the pace for the last 3/4 games.I wonder if the player's are in today for extra training after that performance yesterday.

Got to disagree with some of the comments, as I think I saw a different game.

In the first half our build up play was good and we had more possession than they did. Final ball though was poor with Mandeville’s cross 20 yards overhit into the stands the most obvious example.

The big problem for us was no cover for the centre backs. The two full backs pushed on so far it left the two on their own. Mills wasn’t fit so no one picked up Cole Stockton for first. Tutte tried to cover but we either needed to play 3 at the back or have Alex Kenyon sat in front. As it is, we got easily destroyed on the break.

Over and above that Steve Old had a horror show; Mandy and Kev had little or no impact; and some of our passing was poor.

Our passing was poor the whole game.Cranston is no left back, let there player get past him with ease, but he was not on his own in shutting their players down, but when played further up is a totally different player and has an eye for a goal, like yesterday when nobody was looking for the ball off him he thought sod it i'll do it myself and scored an absolute cracker.Agree Mills not fit but again he was not the only one making poor passing choices.

Have to agree that Old hasn't been the same player over the last few games but i wonder if this is down to an issue about living apart from his family who if I'm correct still lives down South. It's understandable that he would want to spend Christmas Day with his family and as a result had to travel back up north either late on the 25th or even on the morning of the 26th.

I could and probably am wrong but if I am right then it could explain his current form BUT we do need additional cover in the centre of our defence. Maybe the transfer window will bring us some joy but finances will dictate what if anything happens.

Think your right.

Make sense bringing in another L/B and telling Cranston your Midfield from now on, oh and here's a 2yr contract Dude. 8-)

To me, that's indicative that our build up play was poor. The lack of a decent final ball means all we were doing 'well' was passing sideways or backwards. Tranmere were more than happy for us to have the ball on the halfway line, tapping it back and forth. When they broke, they did so with speed & purpose while our breaks were slow and usually ran out of steam far from the danger zone. One shot on target from us in the first half whereas Tranmere could have had five in 45 minutes. Oliver was isolated once more, winning long balls but then no other Morecambe player was anywhere near him to win the second ball.

Two dodgy games at Oldham and our manager is gone, sacking managers isn't the way forward especially loyal ones

Yes talking to my other halfs family they said it is normal for them sacking managers every six months. They being season ticket holders said it was unfair, one bad game and he is gone. Decent manager who will take some replacing

Yes, our build up play to within 25 yards was good and often, but we lacked confidence going any further so kept trying to pass or have a wayward shot, they on the other hand could just play one or two more incisive passes or lobs over our heads for a player to run on to and shoot!
Our narrowness really frustrates me and has gone on for ages, opposition wide players have a field day

In Oldham's case, it's not just one bad game to be fair. Exeter as another example.

This is a Morecambe forum though so I'll end it there....!!
