Yet the Board members collectively probably ended up putting in more money to cover the losses. With PMG putting in a couple of million, other directors having to buy plots of land, talk of some sponsors/directors putting in smaller short term loans to pay wages, etc.

Also you mention crippling loans, but we ended up with those too! I.e. the artificial pitch and academy building company being put into receivership because the loan repayments weren't being paid. Loans/overdrafts from the bank as per charges filed at Companies House, etc.

All this grief when a simple mend and make do approach would have been in the best interests of all parties, where will it all end? :?

The on going disagreement about the options the Board had at the time of committing to the development of The Globe will continue to divide opinions.

My understanding having spoken to a number of former Directors that money which was to be put to one side had to go to pay for the increase in build costs both for The Globe and the rehousing of the junior team that used to play on what is now The Globe.

I doubt that deep rooted opinions on this subject will change and that accusations about mismanagement at Board level will continue to divide supporter opinions.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but decisions on any issue can only be made on the facts known at the time.

Trying to maintain the existing structures and upgrade other facilities for the EFL would have cost a lot of money we simply didn't have. The main stand for one was rotten underneath and really needed rebuilding. The North Stand was the only decent bit of the ground but in reality was only a larger version of what's replaced it at the new ground, the facilities were actually very similar to what we have now with an outside refreshment kiosk, toilets and nothing else.

We all know the Globe arena isn't perfect as the many debates on here will testify, but it is shiny and new and maintenance costs are surely a lot less than the decaying Crusty Pie would have been.

I agree with Ken H's post that we have basically had to put up with 5 years of abysmal football at the Globe and this has driven supporters away. I'm sure that many supporters have drifted away for this reason rather than the stadium design. The stadium would be far more palatable if the football was better. Jim was a club hero as a player but he now looks defeated and disillusioned as manager. We do need a boost and probably the only way to get it is for someone else to take the reigns before it's too late. Might not work but what alternatives do we have?

How on earth can you say that when the likes of Accrington had portakabins for changing rooms, at one stage a smaller club in many ways to Morecambe yet they find themselves more than making up the numbers in League One?
Christie park could and should have been upgraded over time, like a slow continuation of the North stand, you don't drive a Porsche when you only have Honda Jazz money and that move was the main driver as to why the fans ended their love affair with the club
For the few, not the many! getting back to real basics is the only way to save the club, lower prices below £20 quid a seat for any where in that palace of an empty main stand and lower prices across the board everywhere else in the ground.
You need to find that winning combination everyone used to enjoy down the road in order this place ever be fully accepted.

I've said this many times, well said OLDHAMADE

and so do I but my question was asked because I doubt very much JB reads this message board and he's made it clear he isn't going to walk.
So if the Bentley Out Supporters really want him out why not tell him to his face or at the very least make it a vocal protest.

You will be peddling the "if you don't like it don't come" line that you see on FB next. It isn't an us and them situation or are you a Jim fan or not. We are all Morecambe fans.

That is absolutely the bottom line BW. Too easily forgotten in the heat of the debates. COYS.

Interesting (short) interview with Keith Curle on the NFC page, Morecambe preview, worth a watch. Sorry can’t do the link thing.

A man doesn't know what happiness is until he's married. By then it's too late.
