Lewis is our most technically gifted player IMO, and although his goals have dried up recently he is still one of the first names on the team sheet for me.

If anything, I feel his main problem is not having better players around him.

Perhaps Miller could be sent back early. Other than that, we will have to perhaps ship some players out on loan to free up wages for incoming players.

I noticed our squad was 3 or so players bigger than Carlisles according to the programme, does seem a waste of valuable funds when 10 of them are never seen

Yes, I was there when this was said.

Good point about signing players then not playing them

Just 2 X 11 = 22 with 2 player’s competing for every position.

Yes, that was exactly my point. We can only get rid of players in January if their contract is up/allows us to. Otherwise, they must have a club that wants them and be wiling to go to that club. I'd suggest that very few of them would be offered more money than they are on now at a Conference club, knowing that if they are going to be released at the end of the season. None of them are likely to go to a club that is pushing for promotion from the Conference. Players leaving is unlikely beyond the couple I suggested and even then, possibly not. We ***MIGHT*** have players whose have been told they won't have a contract renewed at the end of the season and can go for free in January, who would consider going to a club that offered them some security (ie an eighteen month+ contract) so they ***MIGHT*** consider moving, but it is a lot of ***MIGHT*** in there for that to happen. Only other possibility may be loaning out some younger [cheaper] players, such as Mendez-Gomez?

Basically, if DA can bring in new players, it will probably enlarge the squad further and be because we've saved some money by Baz taking on a duel role and promoting an Assistant Manager from within.

So how did that work out then?

Not long to go now before we see how DA manages to reduce the squad to make room for much needed additions.....hopefully... :!:

What I still find odd is the total silence from our owners about the welcome appointment of DA. Just playing devils advocate but I wonder of they preferred someone else.....we'll never know.... :?: :?: :?:

Sammy wasn't good enough, Jim isn't good enough. Also, love you bitching about the size of the squad when I remember in previous years the ones that "should have been kept on" would have given us a squad of around 36.
