You realise it is a full article in a national newspaper ABOUT MORECAMBE??? It is what non-Morecambe fans will be reading about our club, so I reckon it is relevant to us, don't you?

For me it's the difference between those that see and meet their football family most weeks and those that don't . Strong bonds are made, but don't get too attached.
I don't think Derek will have that same bond, but time may tell, can't be easy fitting in those size 11's
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

Keith is absolutely justified in bringing this story to our attention - a recently departed manager of the club speaking in a national paper about his departing, with it being labelled as 'acrimonious'.

I appreciate Jim was not treated wonderfully by the new owners, but I think they were well within their rights to hold off on a contract extension considering our league position/form.

Think the article is written in a slightly inflammatory way at the start - Jim saying he felt a little let down (understandably so after the FB poll) has been turned into 'scandalous' and 'acrimonious'. Sports reporting at papers is aside from the politics obviously but a bit of house style still shines through!

But the story of how he was scouted which comes in towards the bottom of the article is a great read! Lovely story being scouted from a pub team to Man City.

So you read it every day all the way from front to back to come to your conclusion or just take the word of the keyboard warriors :?:

I don’t think it would have mattered, whatever newspaper it was in GS. The thoughts, opinions, arguments etc, etc, just simmer gently, until somebody posts something, from either side of the “debate,” and that sparks it all back.

It's also one of the most popular, so they must be doing what the people want.

Have you thoroughly examined every detail of everything you've ever said you don't like, out of interest?

I've done critical analysis of the the paper while studying for a degree in journalism. That's obviously not the be all and end all of everything, but I think it does justify me forming an opinion on it.

You don't have to agree with me at all GS, but you should probably rethink your inference that I'm basing my opinion on what 'keyboard warriors' say

And to KenH - you're right, it obviously is doing something people want! Unfortunately, that's not something that tends to go hand in hand with responsible and accurate news reporting

So are you saying a lecturer has described a newspaper as an "unpleasant and hate inducing paper" ? Or is that your interpretation of what he has said. He ought to know that UK newspapers reflect different political opinions over a wide spectrum and the fact that the lecturer does not agree with a papers' views should not make them a target for his bile and I question whether he should be lecturing or rather indoctrinating students. The public purchase the paper that reflects their own beliefs and long may that continue.

Thought this would be just the usual lazy journalism on Jim's departure but ends up giving some interesting snippets on his early life and career.

GS, at which point did I say that this was what a lecturer told me? First you try to claim I'm just going off what keyboard warriors say, and now you're trying to insinuate that I've just had my head filled with opinions by a lecturer. I looked through articles myself, did some research and background reading then drew a conclusion from that - that's basically how it works with most things like this.

I don't really want to be going on and justifying myself like this, it's cringeworthy and boring. I'm not bothered about changing your opinion, and don't expect to. Are you done pouring over my 'credentials' now?

Doesn’t stop ‘people’ being thick.

It’s full of dog whistle racism, thinly veiled homophobia and constant meaningless health stories. All newspapers push their own agenda but the Mail is the worst of the worst.
Because it’s readers don’t see it’s flaws doesn’t mean that they aren’t there.

I don’t read any newspapers now, haven’t done for years. For me, they are likened to politicians. You can’t trust any of them, they all have an agenda, but we can all find one that “fits” closest.
Thought the article was an interesting read.

Not sure how you justify calling people “thick” S/teer?? That’s a very, very weak, and unsuccessful line, often dished out out by some, whatever “side” they are on.

By some, not by all.
With 85% of daily papers being owned and run by four billionaire tax exiles, they are an anathema in this day and age.
However, TV news is becoming as driven by outside influences for me.

No new signings this week yet?? :D

So how did that work out then?

Yes, and just because some people may read the Daily Mail, and may vote Tory, doesn’t mean they’re not genuinely compassionate or charitable in life.

One thing for sure since the 2016 EU Referendum a lot of these so called liberals and they name calling leading up to this recent election as been pathetic, showing their “True Colours” really.

Not the same person from 1934 though as I said.

I couldn't care less about his Tax status , this is a free country , and unless you live on Miseryside you can buy any newspaper you wish to.
