Pushed back more than sat back. They came out second half with more determination. They also had the wind behind them. We were the better side in the first half, they were better in the second. The game became more scrappy in the second and they won the second ball more than us. Superb save from Halstead made a big difference.

Great three points.

Agree we were worse second half and pushed back, but we still had a few good chances, Lavelle would have scored if he was wearing bigger boots! We've had enough bad luck and undeserved losses, I'll take this one.

At this stage of the season and position we are in results are more important than performances

Last 6 at home

Won 3
Drew 2
Lost 1

This is where our best chance of staying up remains

Fantastic win! Pure footy for the first 45 and a huge battling performance in the second. Absolute crime that Carlos never got a game before DA came in. Big Dave runs the show from the middle, been crying out for it for years. Old and Sam bossed Pope and Bennett(class touch clapping our fans). Kenyon has improved so much, he really deserves his place in the team.

Good 1st half performance and last 10mins seeing the game out.

I like Slew, but just looks a bit short of match fitness and was rightly substituted for Tom Brewitt

Stockton worked hard and played his part, with AJ Smith replacing him and looking like he’s Derek Adam’s ”Ace Card” coming off the bench, and it seems to be coming together now.

PS thought it was disrespectful “Booing” Richie Bennett coming onto the pitch, he played a key part last season in keeping us in the FL, don’t get it :?

Really enjoyed tonight, the players were brilliant and some real astute signings by Derek.

Fantastic first half and what a build up for our 2nd.
The 4 new players have really made a difference and have improved those around them. Like the way Derek shifted Tanner to left back even though he wasnt as comfortable.
Derek had a right go at the 4th official about how he reacted, our manager can make someone stand to attention with just a few words, it seems to be rubbing off on the players.
We now have a midfield that can win the ball and pass!
Hope Phillips is ok as it was noticeable when he was subbed
Well done

Excellent early goals, and many other great periods of play, chances and performances by the Shrimps. A great team performance. Carlos deserved his MOTM. Toumani was tremendous in midfield! We missed Phillips in second-half, hope he makes a quick full recovery. Loads of confidence to take from this win and performance! Well done DA and the team! COYS!!!

Carlos was just fantastic, again. There is an urgent need to tie him down on a new contract.

I really like ‘Toums’ - he did the simple things but looked really assured. He looks a quality player.

Slew doesn’t look ready to be starting. I’d give him a couple of weeks of reserve football and some substitute appearances to get his confidence and fitness levels up.

Phillips looks quality. Adams said the substitution was precautionary and he should be available for Saturday which is great news.

Based on our recent games, it now looks like we have a squad, that has the ability, the confidence and most importantly the belief in themselves. They KNOW they can WIN games, off the front foot, or off the back foot, as it was 2nd half last night. Pleasure to be there, fantastic 3 points. Roll on Northampton.

The tactics were fantastic last night. We pushed Vale up to the half way line and allowed them no room to play. Pope was never going to beat Sam in a race over the top. Joyce, who is a class operator when allowed time was closed down by Big Dave every time he got the ball. We stopped them from playing and took the game to them.

Slew is the one concern. He looked brighter but switched off and was at fault for the goal. I think O'Sullivan has done enough off the bench to start on Saturday.

Excellent last night. Having said I'd start Cooney over Tanner, Tanner was the better of the two last night   . They are definitely starting to work as a team, and Carlos well deserved the MOTM. Kenyon looks a different player, passing to team mates, controlling the ball. Sam & Steve solid at the back. Love the way we are now defending in midfield, rather than waiting for them to reach the 18 yard box. And we're creating, and more importantly converting, chances. Long may it continue.

One question: I've seen a couple of references to Dave/Big Dave. Is this, as it appears, a reference to Toumani Diagouraga, and if so, has he asked for or suggested this name? If it is, and he hasn't, can I suggest using 'Toums' as a nickname,as used in the article about his signing. It just seems a bit 'lazy little Englishman' using a totally English name for a foreigner with a long and clearly foreign name.

Derek has sorted out the full back problem and we look much better now. What a tackle by Tanner in the 2nd half just as one of their guys was about to score.

The team has definitely improved and slowly but surely the results are improving too.

Be interesting to see how many players from the start of the season have left or been loaned out on Brexit Day. Maybe Tutte , Alessandra , Buxton , Ellison , Fleming(retired), Conlan , Hawley etc

I think a striker must be high on Derek's wish list although they don't come cheap.

From the team that started on the opening day of the season against Grimsby only 3 of them (Old, Lavelle and Kenyon) started last night.

He was nicknamed Dave when he played for Hereford against us 10 years or more ago, amazing what a clearout of scousers we've had on the pitch

A reference completely lost on me I'm afraid. Any idea where it originally came from?

I have noticed the lack of Scouser's in our line up. The scouting pool seemed to be mainly the Merseyside area under Jim but as a club, we have had a huge Scouse influence. The team that got out of the Unibond was full of them.

It's all about contacts and DA has operated in different parts of the UK so will hopefully be able to pull players in from different areas. It will be a hard sell but hopefully his reputation will be a big enough draw for new recruits.

Don't Chelsea called Cesar Azpilicueta, Dave as well?

I think the general idea behind it is "that's a bloody well difficult name to say, we'll just call him Dave for short"

Old and Kenyon have really stepped up to the plate since Derek arrived. I didn't think Kenyon had a future at The Globe under Derek but he has been excellent.
