Midway through the second half Caldwell wrang the changes as he introduced Cayless, Cutler and Perkins to the mix. While Cayless made history in City’s first group game against Swindon as City’s second-youngest ever player, it was first team coach Perkins who would go into the history books this time around as he became the club’s oldest ever player at a spritely age of 42.

While Perks’ introduction was seen as a novelty by some of the SJP crowd, his role was important as he provided importance guidance to the younger members of the squad. Let’s hope they weren’t taking notes when he went in for a crunching tackle on Damola Ajayi – both parties thankfully coming out unscathed.

Timeless! 8-)

Aaron Collins scores for Bolton at the Emirates with a solo run on a break away from an Arsenal corner to pull a goal back to 3-1.

Conor Pye and Lewis Alessandro playing for Bury at Longridge today. According to bury fans Connor is doing well (he scored today) Lewis got subbed early in the second half after making very little impact.

Ex loanee goalkeeper Joe Lewis as announced his retirement from football at the age of 37

What a great keeper he was (didn't realise he only played 19 games for us) - thought he played all season

Joe missed a lot of games for us with a serious head injury. Happened at the old Rotherham ground right in front of us. Sickening watching him leaving the pitch on a stretcher with an oxygen mask on his face. However we saw enough of him in the games he did play to realise that he was destined for the top.

Norwich recalled him after his masterclass against Peterborough... Who promptly then signed him themselves!

IIRC we had Scott Loach for one game (at Macc) then Shwan Jalal came in for the rest of the season before he became a good keeper elsewhere!

The story was that the Board were trying to match the 200k fee P'boro had agreed for Lewis as an investment. Each Director had to to stump up 50k.
