its a long season ahead ;) :D

Yeah, but the story was only a prediction of the first five games! They had Morecambe lose all five without scoring a goal!

The rest of the season is a long one, but I'm delighted to enjoy the moment! :D

Great day today that has only just finished. Thought we were up against it with a '2nd choice" back line but we went for it and had loads of chances in the first 1/4. Could have been 5.3 to them at half time, but then we scored and then gradually went back against the wall. Baz was ace again, we nullified our attack to keep a clean sheet and it paid off, but please don't put us through that again.
Well played a great 3 points.

Yes, I couldn't believe they started with the team in second place, then third, then... eventually showed us as if it was a mid-table clash. At least we got a mention in the 'chat', with recognition of what a great job Jim's done year on year.

Only the overall attendance was announced but I'd say somewhere in the 60-70 region.

Edit: http://www.ciderspace.co.uk/asp/news/news.asp claims the figure was 50.

Excellent result and Kevin knew how to stick it to me.......

People in Sainsburys looked at me as if I was mad when I gave a shout of 'YES' when we scored as I was with my wife and mother in law helping with their shopping; plugged in and switched onto commentary.

Time will tell if it's our usual good start to a season and then fade away come November, but let's live the dream for as long as we can.

Happy chappy this morning.... :D :D :D

Hopefully, if we can carry on keeping clean sheets, the panic to sort out the defence won't happen. Remember Jim, the best form of defence is attack.

Where does the must keep a clean sheet come from?
Being hard to break down should be implicit, as should being fast and accurate on the break.
At the moment we are both, as long as we keep being both, I don't think Jim cares if we win 1-0 or 5-4, as we have in the last two away games.

Seriously? Were you at the Portsmouth or Yeovil games? It certainly hasn't been a 'defend at all cost' style. But we have been forced to defend because we were playing decent teams. We've played really well for the last four games, long may it continue :D

think what sandgrown is trying to say is, we've been here before, and it won't be long before Jim tinkers with things, setting teams up defensive(negative) worrying to much about the other teams.

I hope not, we have posed a real threat in the last four games and as a result we have won them all.

well if he does go that way again after another brilliant start to a season, it's your job to put this to Jim next time you interview him, as a lot of fans feel this way. it's frustrating.

But that's not what he's saying is it?

"but if Jim continues... ...it wont be long before it all goes tits up again

Sometimes I wonder if some people will ever be able to be positive?

If Jim returns to last season's defensive, negative, hoof it, tactics, THEN there will be a point to be made. But at the moment, enjoy it!

I think they usually show clubs in order of how they started the day, so hopefully you'll find we're on first next weekend. ;)

I don't think people are being overly negative on here at all. Credit to Jim for the start of the season (again) and like I have said before I really do hope he keeps proving me wrong.

I think the point is people are realistic to the situation not negative. We have been here before and the pattern has generally been the same every season so you can forgive people for not getting carried away. Morecambegeek's previous post on this was spot on and by November we will have a clearer picture of where we and Jim is at.

George, a couple of points, it's not my job, I volunteer and as such I do as I'm asked by the club and secondly a few people on a message board doesn't constitute a lot, not to me anyways.
But when and if we start losing a game or two, it may or may not constitute a change in tactics, however, we will all have to judge that when it happens? Surely?

I know your a volunteer , you do a good job, it's just if your doing an interview, just like to see Jim challenged on this.

I'm expecting a turning point moment and interview with Jim talking down our chances of going up, and the budget and if he'd money he'd buy better players like he's done in previous seasons, unlike John Coleman at Stanley last season telling his players he would not swap them and their good enough to go up.

Thank you for the compliment.
Personally I felt that last season we started well, then we dropped off in December, the main reason for me was that we created and missed chances in too many games.
Obviously the defeat to Daggers in the FA Cup was a hammer blow from which I don't think we ever truly recovered from.
However we did play pretty well in quite a few of the games on the eleven game run of defeats, but didn't get anything as we created and missed chances but were severely punished for every mistake.

Hopefully we have tightened things up, and with Dunn, Turner, Stockton, Mullin and Barky and Kev chipping in, we currently appear to have a threat in the attacking areas.

I hope we continue to play this way all season, Michale Rose appears to have the composure and left foot alongside Alex Whitmore, who also is able to pick a pass. These two were responsible for most of the football on the ground at Yeovil.
There will be times, as other have said that teams come to frustrate us, which has traditionally been when we falter, Mansfield home and away last season comes to mind, I still have no idea how they took six points from us, as we dominated both games for 80 minutes!!

We have looked a threat on the break in the last four games against some decent sides, let's hope we pose a threat when the teams are less expansive!

Alex has been criticised on occasions, but was impressed the way he stepped in to central defence the way he did. Whitmore by his side is a gem, even though I believe he would be a stand in.. he deserves to keep his place imo.. far more confidence in him than Dugdale

At the Bamber Bridge pre season game, Whitmore partnered Edwards at the back, and I was immediately impressed with him. His distribution was better than Edwards in that game, and he was calm and composed when defending.
