Whoever did this has made a mistake, its shows a distinct lack of class, an apology should be made, and a rap on the knuckles.

I only hope the chairman takes it on the chin and doesn't make a scapegoat of anyone.

Sure has, "you'll never walk alone" - unless you are the Liverpool Keeper!

It baffles me how poor the club are at using social media and marketing in general - this year we were seen pushing comedy nights rather than important home fixtures (I suppose you could argue they’re one and the same) in addition to the debacle with the postponed fixture. It’s a shame because used properly we saw the benefits and positive exposure that social media can bring with the Sky Bet sponsorship resulting from the fans paying Jimbos fine around 18 months ago.

I personally think that there is an element of overreaction to this specific tweet, although for me it’s generelly in poor taste and not that funny - I’d rather the club (which struggled to pay wages, won nine games all year, stayed up on goal difference, and initially purchased an electronic scoreboard that wasn’t suitable to be used outdoors) poked light hearted fun at itself rather than others misfortunes.... or better still leave ‘banter’ to the likes of ‘Lad’ Bible etc. More importantly from a Morecambe perspective, this particular tweet IMO served no purpose for the football club - what are the club, or the individual(s) posting as the club looking to achieve with this and other social media activity? For me, the club doesn’t just need a social media policy going forward - it needs a plan and to rethink what it’s objectives are for this marketing platform.
Hello! Hello! We are the Morecambe boys!

IMO we just need a leader that will get hold of it all and delegate to the staff so that we can move forward, at the moment and for many months it seems nobody is in charge of anything

Agree entirely with RRW and Marky 1.

I called for someone to be sacked, that might seem over the top and may be it was, but the fact is we may never know. When clubs and even the FA have made a complete arse of themselves on social media,an explanation and apologies have followed. Let’s see if we do the same and then we can judge for ourselves.

Even if PMG never posted this, it is on the official Twitter page that was put in place on his watch, therefore he shares blame for this, if it is not relatively easy to detect the culprit, then it actually even more his fault, not less, for allowing the account to be used by any Tom Dick or Harry......it is very noticeable to fans that he has been rarely near the place for the last 18 months or so leaving minor shareholding directors to manage as best they can, so if he's happy to step back into the limelight and introduce our new saviours, let's be having an explanation and apology to Liverpool and Karius.

Incidentally, I have noticed that quite a few our the Morecambe fans angered by this also support Liverpool, and I wonder if they would be as indignant if it was a man Utd goalie getting this stick, as vile abuse from Liverpool fans themselves has been widespread for the poor man.

Absolutely spot on, I guarantee if this was a Manchester United Keeper , then people wouldn't of over reacted so much! It's only because it's Liverpool, and their fans are the worst! Bitter sad acts! get over it!

Just out of interest and a valid question I feel for the chaps who do the Iplayer comms. Are you given any guidelines from the club?

Jokes and banter will always be down to personal opinion as to whether they're funny or not.

I can't help but feel we've just alienated a club that has in the past provided friendly opponents and loan players. Will that have an effect in the future? Who knows.

On the flip side, we've been publicised around the world as a result of a Trump-like tweet. All publicity is good publicity, right? I blame Russia...
