Let them keep the money so they can pay Bentleys contract off and get rid of him

Without stating the obvious you can't ask for a worse start to the season...home form will be crucial but already the goal difference is horrendous which is effectively an extra point.

There are no words. In 20 years of following the club that has got to be one of the worst performances I've ever seen.

Jimbo's untouchable position is going to cost us. It's his team, his tactics and from 3-0 down he just sat there with his arms folded and watched the shambles unfold in front of him.

Hopefully this is a freak result and we'll laugh about it come the end of the season.

Positives: Tutte and Cranston.

So after our horrifically close brush relegation last season, what has Bentley learnt? Absolutely nothing.

We’re a joke. I know we were hindered by Kenyon’s inability at CB at the start but moving past that, we just played thick hoofball all game. Every time our midfield got the ball in their own half, the frontline just stood on the edge of the box expecting a Xabi Alonso style ball to put them through. Then when we inevitably lost the second ball, we had no protection on the wings and Cranston and Mills were made to look like complete clowns. When they got the ball too, they had no option down the line as Oates and Ellison just hovered on the opposition box. Mandeville got no support on the ball and just got forced back and shrugged off.

It’s hard to judge the ability of this Crewe side as they barely moved out of second gear. They just moved the ball around nicely ON THE DECK and far too easily drew our players to one side of the pitch then just switched the ball.

Drop the hoofball now Bentley or we will get relegated and you will destroy your legacy at the club.

Can't believe the new management won't demand change from Jim's 'tactics" and if it's not forth coming will demand a change of management. They call the shots not PmG.

Their Captain Kirk was awesome, freedom of the pitch, ran the show without a klingon in sight, in fact 10 yards was probably as close as they got

Positives: erm...nowt, no, seriously thought Oswell looked handy when he came on

Negatives: wow: team looked like they barely knew each other. Was struck by how slow we looked to second balls- fitness?
Full backs- poor throughout. Kirk for them was outstanding and skinned our full backs time and time again
Kenyon- not great today as centre back
Midfield- didn’t get a hold of the game
Oliver- few half decent chances but very isolated
Sorry Jim but that was tactically inept. If you play that that again you will be lucky to survive the season

You’re kidding?! If that’s true, then he’s an utter disgrace. I could write a dissertation on our bad tactics today.

This result is up there with the Play-off semi final , the Cambridge United away game and the Gravesend & Northfleet game in the Conference.
But this one seems so much worse :( :(

A few of us saw the common denominator about 4 or 5 seasons ago , at last it looks like quite a few more now see what we saw back then

The first half was poor, a typical case of us knocking it around ineffectively and then getting punished every time our opponents go forward - it just looked like a general lack of quality to me, Crewe were happy to drop back and then hit us with quick, direct football on the counter.

I can’t explain how we let it get to 6-0 in the second half though. We just crumbled.

The team hasn’t gelled yet, but there are plenty of teams throughout the FL who won their games today who have made more signings than us in the summer, so that’s not an excuse as such...

I will defend Jim and say that it’s not entirely his fault. The team selection or formation alone don’t lose a game 6-0, but I have no idea why Jim persists with a striker who is allergic to scoring goals.

Cranston did ok and would be my Morecambe MotM, although there wasn’t much to choose from.

It's not as though this result came out of the blue. In my post about Pre Season Observations I made reference to the number of goals against us that had been the result of a lack of close marking. Sounds as though it was all for to see once again. Last home game of last season Jim and I had a confrontation about his tactics. Appears that he's learned or heeded nothing as by the sounds of it it was a case of same old same old. I expect a positive reaction next Saturday but any more shambolic performances like today and the new owners may have to be prepared to do what others seemed unwilling to do, as harsh as it may be and no doubt unpopular but there is no way that their investment doesn't have ramifications for the manager.

As an eternal optimist, it was easy to pick out positives from today's game.

1. It could have been worse, Crewe could have had nine.
2. Those people who complain that Jim sets up to keep a clean sheet can't complain now!
3. It was a lovely sunny day.

See? Positives.

Oh, and another one. Surely Oliver can't be starting again? It is a bit unfair to focus on a forward, it wasn't his fault we conceded six, but it was his fault that we ended with 'nil'.

Very, very, very poor. Worse than anything we witnessed last season. The only really good thing is that it was the first game of the season, so time to respond positively. Play the young lads, use their speed and trickery. Flair. Positivity. And if the lads who played today could introduce themselves to each other when they get together next, that might help too.
