Just out of curiosity
redrobo, if the FA/EFL had not cancelled football, would you have gone to the Morecambe v Derby game today?
Yes I would as I would expect others who show respect unlike others on this and other sites but I would have been mindful of the nations loss and conducted myself in a manner that shows respect towards the loss of a our former head of state.
So you think it is right that the club loses many thousands of pounds, fans are not allowed to choose for themselves, and the FA/EFL are correct to force us to mourn in the manner they prescribe, and
'be respectful', by not going to football. However, if you had been given the choice, you would have
chosen to be 'disrespectful', by attending the game? That's based upon, if the
respectful thing is not to go, then, by definition, going is '
disrespectful'.
I've tried to avoid the subject of 'respect' as much as possible, in a large part because I recognise that many people are indeed grieving the loss of the last monarch. In fact, I'm genuinely surprised by some people's outpouring of grief. However, I don't believe people should be forced to mourn in a particular way. Having that belief is not 'disrespectful', it is freedom of expression. I'm genuinely shocked though, that you needed the FA/EFL to make the correct decision for you.
